Judd Apatow (40 Year Old Virgin) casts his former real-life roommate Adam Sandler as George Simmons, a comic superstar who learns in the movie's opening scene that he suffers from a rare blood disorder that will likely kill him within a year. This news gives him the impulse to go back out and work on his stand-up, something he hasn't done in years thanks to the massive success of his movie career.
At a club, he meets struggling stand-up Ira Wright (Seth Rogen, Pineapple Express), takes a shine to him, and hires the young man both to write jokes and to be his personal assistant. Ira, who's been sleeping on a friend's pull-out couch and working a day job at a deli, enjoys the glimpse into the superstar lifestyle, but soon the protégé discovers how selfish and egocentric his mentor really is.

Funny People
Knocked Up, Superbad or 40Year Old Virgin it is not .... But let me assure you thats a good thing. This IS a funny film, just on a completely different level. The laughs arent as base or obvious as the previously mentioned titles. Adam Sandler is one of my favorite comedy actors and in this movie he is brilliant as is Seth Rogan. The story is about a big time hollywood star who is all bitter and twisted about life, he discovers he has a terminal illness but the story is by no means morbid, its exactly the opposite being more about him making peace with himself before the dreaded day cometh. This is a very clever and a intelligent film as I guess it needs to be dealing with such a sensative subject. This is another side to Sandler and a film we all should watch if we enjoy movies some not so obvious humour.
