Overkill
Well, there is no doubt that MF is a brilliant dancer, albeit a puffing one! After viewing the first disc however it became a bit - dare I say it - boring. There are only so many steps and moves that you can devise within the 'Irish' dancing label so the groups have attempted to delve into other ways to entertain us - such as in some instances more skimpy clothing for les girls. This to me does not work at all and detracts from the obviously considerable skills which ALL the dancers obviously and impressively have. Some of the so-called dramatic themes are also a bit naff in my view but I am sure that I will be in a minority on this one! For me the most stunning spectacle was the Hyde Park event and the spontaneous involvement of the huge crowd was a joy to see. I would personally have liked to see some of the other dancers featured more often and more prominently, rather than the inevitable build up after build up to the grand entrance by the one and only MF. Although I suppose it IS his show.............
