This lavish adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's THE SNOW QUEEN stars Bridget Fonda as the icy-hearted title character. Arriving incognito at the alpine inn run by a man named Wolfgang (Robert Wisden), the embittered Snow Queen makes it her mission in life to ruin all chances of romance for Wolfgang's beautiful daughter, Gerda (Chelsea Hobbs). To this end, the Queen exercises her magic over Gerda's bellhop boyfriend Kai (Jeremy Guilbaut), literally freezing the boy in his tracks. In order to save her beloved, Gerda must undertake a grueling odyssey through the Four Seasons (each of them briefly appearing in human form), culminating in a final, frigid showdown with the spiteful Snow Queen.

snow queen
I originally got this as a freebee out of a newspaper. I sat down 1 cold night with my daughters and was blown away!!! I thought it was fantastic, although it goes into several hours so by the conclusion 2 of my 3 girls were asleep. The next day I just had to check it out again. Now I've ordered a new copy as mines had its day. Slightly different story where Gerda's father owns a beautiful hotel at a ski resort and she falls in love with Kai the bellboy. Watch out for her fabulous dress when she stays with 'summer'! Very easy to follow, no head-scratching moments. Stock up with icecream, popcorn etc especially if you plan to watch parts 1 & 2 in one sitting. would perfectly while away a cold winter afternoon.
