Legacy Of The Mandalorian

The son of a respected bounty hunter, Boba Fett (Jeremy Bulloch/Daniel Logan/Temuera Morrison) — as revealed in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack Of The Clones (2002) — was created as a genetically unaltered replica of the Mandalorian Jango Fett (Temuera Morrison), who had agreed to participate in the creation of an army for the Jedi Order. As such, Boba aged at a normal pace, learning the tools of his father’s trade, tools that he would later employ after the fall of the Galactic Republic. By the time he was fully grown, he had established a reputation comparable to that of Jango, donning traditional Mandalorian armour to assist in the capture and killing of the Empire’s enemies.

It is Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980) that features the character’s first appearance. Hired by Darth Vader (David Prowse/James Earl Jones), Boba is given the task of capturing the crew of the Millennium Falcon, all of whom are wanted by the Empire. Among the crew is Han Solo (Harrison Ford), a smuggler also pursued by the crime lord Jabba The Hutt (Larry Ward), and Boba requests that the man be released into his custody so that he can collect the sizable bounty on offer. Vader accepts this proposal, so when audiences reunite with Boba in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return Of The Jedi (1983), he is in the company of Jabba. Unfortunately, this affiliation leads to his death, the bounty hunter consumed by the legendary sarlacc.

Owing to his popularity, the character was eventually revived for his own Disney+ series: The Book Of Boba Fett. It is revealed that he escaped the belly of the sarlacc and started consorting with the Tusken Raiders, a tribal group living on the planet Tatooine. After tragedy strikes, he determines to assume control of Jabba’s criminal empire with the help of the assassin Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen).
