Luke Skywalker Merchandise

A New Hope

Luke Skywalker first became known to the world in 1977, starring in director George Lucas’ Star Wars IV: A New Hope. Played by actor Mark Hamil, the character becomes enthralled in the Galactic Civil War after Ben Kenobi (formerly the Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi) reveals his heritage as the son of the Clone Wars hero Anakin Skywalker.

Inheriting his father’s blue lightsaber, Luke goes on to join the Rebel Alliance alongside Princess Leia Organa and a smuggler by the name of Han Solo – travelling the galaxy on board the Millennium Falcon starship.

Over the course of the original Star Wars trilogy, Luke discovers that the Sith Lord Darth Vader is in fact his father – revealed in one of the greatest twists of all time in Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back. This revelation causes him to attempt to bring his father back to the Lightside of the Force.

Creating his own green-bladed lightsaber, Luke becomes a full-fledged Jedi, having trained under the legendary Master Yoda.

After defeating the Empire, Luke would eventually form his own Jedi academy, training young Force users. This included the baby Grogu (seen in TV series The Mandalorian) and his nephew, Ben Solo.

However, after betraying Ben’s trust, his nephew turns to the Darkside and destroys the new Jedi, pledging allegiance to Supreme Leader Snoke and the First Order.

Luke would later make amens by training Rey and rescuing the Resistance forces while they escaped their base on the planet Crait, sacrificing his life through an immense feat of Force mastery.
