An Unlikely Hero

Released in 2012, Wreck-It Ralph was Disney’s 52nd animated feature film. The story follows Ralph (John C. Reilly), a video-game character and antagonist of Fix-It Felix Jr. For being the game’s villain, he is shunned by others. He sets out on a mission to win a medal so that he can finally earn ‘Hero’ status.

On Ralph’s journey, he ventures into a racing game called Sugar Rush. Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman) is one of the central characters; however, she suffers from a technical ‘glitch’ that ostracises her from her fellow racers. Ralph and Vanellope strike up an unlikely friendship, battle the evil King Candy (Alan Tudyk), earn the respect of their fellow game characters, and stop their games from being unplugged by Mr. Litwak (Ed O’Neill), the owner of the arcade in which the games are played.

The sequel, Ralph Breaks The Internet (2018), is set six years after the first film and follows Ralph and Vanellope as they travel into the Internet through the new arcade Wi-Fi router in pursuit of a replacement part for the broken Sugar Rush. While exploring, they also need to avoid crashing the entire Internet.
