Amazing score

While nowhere near as influential as the original, there are quite a few aspects that the 1990 remake by Tom Savini are more successful. One of those attributes would be that it added a little more depth to the story, bringing it arguably more in line with its sequels Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead. Imagine if instead of Alien Resurrection, the fourth Alien movie was a remake of Alien that added some of the more deep elements of Aliens and Alien 3. Another aspect is of course the subject of this review. Unlike the original which (skillfully) used library music, NOTLD 1990 has an original score which is really pretty great. By far my favourite piece is the end credits music, which is a fun, rocking piece, but still creepy. This is called "Passage to Normal" on the soundtrack release. The whole soundtrack is pretty synthetic sounding - I realise this will put some people off - but it's synth AS Synth, not mock orchestral, and it has a nifty, dreamlike sound. This vinyl release features lovely artwork and amazing reproduction sound.
