Spyro is a series of video games, first released in 1998 for PlayStation, the series has since become massively popular across the globe.

The player assumes the role of a small purple dragon named Spyro, who is tasked with freeing his fellow dragons from crystal prisons, which are scattered around their world. Spyro is accompanied by a dragonfly named Sparx, who helps protectSpyro from damage and assists him to collect gems. Gnasty Gnorcis, who is the main antagonist of the series, is a very smart, and calculating Gnorc who hates Dragons and freezes them in crystal with ease.

There have been several spinoff games, such as Ripto's Rage! (1999), Year of the Dragon (2000), Enter the Dragonfly (2002), Attack of the Rhynocs (2003), A Hero's Tail (2004), and The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning (2006).
