A long awaited release of another Jon Pertwee classic - anyone who remembers him in the role of the doctor will love this, with the addition of many extras on the DVD background information on the making of the series etc., plus the excellent price tag (I have seen this in stores for a lot more than the Zavvi price!) If you enjoyed Jon Pertwee playing the doctor, this is a must.
I am amazed that this 1974 Dr Who Dalek story has never had a repeat showing on BBC tv. However, lucky for us they have released it complete in 625 original format with some lovely extras on this disc. A rare chance to see some studio recordings on these episodes from Dec 1973 showing some of the ways in which the BBC made our favourie teatime time travelling tv show. The way the story is shot on location is quite ambitious considering the budgets they had in 1973 and on the whole this story stands up quite well, although the incidental music is a little quirky at times. Michael Wisher provides excellent Dalek voices and the colour scheme of bright silver is the only time they have ever been seen in this colour. I could go on but I suggest you sample some rare sci fi tv from an era sadly long gone, when the BBC dominated our Saturday nights.
