Once again, Steven Moffat proves himself as one of the most ambitious writers for Doctor Who ever since it began in 1963. Just like the previous series, series 7 is split into two parts, and what an introduction to the new series this was! Doctor Who now has vastly improved special effects, a great musical score and a strong more than capable cast that gives each episode a cinematic, mini blockbuster-like feel. That plus the haunting return of the Daleks, a cheerful romp on a spaceship teeming with dinosaurs (finally...!), an exiting trip to a town called mercy, an invasion of small cubes and a look into Amy and Rory's life when they're not travelling the stars and, arguably the best and most emotional episode since the beginning of the Moffat era, The Angels Take Manhattan- the ultimate example of Doctor Who at its best. You can forgive the one-off dud episodes and the fact that this set only contains a measly five of them due to the film-like feel of each episode, Matt Smith's as usual fantastic performance and the suitably tearful farewell to Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill. So far a brilliant series, which really sets the bar high for the future episodes. It's great stuff!
