Good collection
I had watched all of these before but only had District 9 on Blu-Ray so this was a good opportunity to get the other two at a great price and I have since traded my original District 9 at a CD & DVD fair.

Excellent picture quality for some great films. Not so keen on Battle: LA, but the other two are worth the price.

Excellent value
District 9 is one of the best movies ever, don't let the boring first 20-30 minutes make you give up, it gets a whole lot better. 2012 is pretty good. Battle: Los Angeles is not bad, worth watching. All up this is excellent value.

First up, a quick recap of the films in this 3 disc set. District 9 is the excellent 'documentary style' tale of an alien refugee camp just outside of Jo'burg. Battle: Los Angeles could be described as Black Hawk Down mixed with Independence Day. Luckily the film is a lot better than I thought it would be and is probably one of the better alien invasion films of the last few years. Finally we have the 'disaster porn' epic known as 2012. Watch in awe as the forces of Mother Nature rip the human race a new one, and then realise that you have (at time of writing) less than 11 months to sort out your life before the Apocalypse (!!!!!!!!). As for the Blu-rays themselves, the transfers, picture quality and sound are excellent and you get a fair bunch of bonus features per film. IMO District 9 is the best of the bunch, proof that a good story can be told on a fairly restrained budget (and the alien effects are top-notch). Battle: Los Angeles is a gritty, modern war film that just happens to have aliens in it and doesn't go all Blair Witch or Cloverfield when it uses the hand held 'shakycam' style to follow those heroic Marines (!). Lastly if you want a top demo to show off your funky HD set-up then 2012 is for you. It may be silly but by the Mayan Gods does it show off what Blu-Ray can do, and mass destruction has never looked so good. All in all a great bunch of films that are going for a bargain price. What more do you want ?

good value for money
Three good adventure/sci-fi films in one slimline box-set makes a great gift - better value than buying them seperately!
