Great....but
This is a great show and something that fills the massive gap in my life after Gilmore Girls and Brothers & Sisters. My only gripe about the DVD is that the first episode is ruined by the sound being out-of-sync with the pictures, but it seems to be the only episode affected. Thumbs up!

Parenthood Season 1
After not being sure what to expect, (I had watched the Steve Martin film ages ago and enjoyed it) this came as a pleasant surprise. Parenthood is not a comedy vehicle, although there are plenty of laugh-out-loud scenes. It is a very involving and poignant drama. The first two episodes are inevitable; a little bogged down with the introduction of the characters, (and there are plenty of them) but it then becomes a simple but effective evocation of family life. There is excellent acting throughout with no-one taking a 'star' role. Peter Krause and Bonny Bedelia are both brilliant, and Lauren Graham can do no wrong. You definitely have to watch this.
