Great collection

Excellent collection of durarara! season one. There are 4 BD in it and it comes with 4 art cards which is a good extra for the collection. This show is an awesome anime with some great reviews and Durarara! has one of the best opening & ending songs. I highly recommend watching it.

A Bizarre Series in a Beautiful Package

Durarara is an anime that uses multiple narrators to advance the main plot - think Love Actually/Valentine's Day and you wouldn't be far from the mark. Each episode makes use of a new narrator in order to show a different point of view upon the happenings in Ikebukurou, where the series takes place. This effectively demonstrates how every character in the series is connected, but it also means that Durarara is more than a little slow at times. The show roughly follows Mikado Ryugamine, a student who has just moved to Ikebukurou and the people he meets there, and Celty, the 'mythical' Black Rider and her search for her lost head. The series can be a bit lopsided at times, with Celty's story being far more interesting than Mikado's. However, when the characters come together is when the show particularly begins to shine - episodes 11 and 12 being stand out moments which required the other episodes narratives in order to bring all the characters together whilst establishing their reasoning. The show therefore feels like a bit of an investment - often in early episodes there is a sense of having to sit through some fairly boring and drawn out scenes whilst you wait for the payout where everyone is brought together. Durarara can be seen as a creature of intricately structured plot, rather than constant action. If you're seeking something that is light entertainment after work, or an action anime that moves a million miles a minute like kill la kill, then it is unlikely to grip you. If you're looking for a well constructed plot, fully developed characters and a black-clad decapitated biker's search for their own head, then look no further. On another note, Durarara was my first anime ltd purchase, and it is a gorgeous set. The collectors edition features a rigid art box, as well as 4 art cards. In addition, it's a limited print run of 3000, with one of the art cards doubling as a numbered certificate of authenticity. Overall this is a lovely edition of a thought-provoking anime that isn't entirely without it's faults, but should be admired for it's masterful storytelling.
