When she was a deeply troubled teenager, Nikita (Maggie Q.) was rescued from death row by a secret U.S. agency known only as Division, who faked her execution and told her she was being given a second chance to start a new life and serve her country. What they didn't tell her was that she was being trained as a spy and assassin. Throughout her gruelling training at Division, Nikita never lost her humanity, even falling in love with a civilian. When her fiancé was murdered, Nikita realised she had been betrayed and her dreams shattered by the only people she thought she could trust,so she did what no one else before her had been able to do: she escaped. Now after three ears in hiding, Nikita is seeking retribution and making it clear to her former bosses that she will stop at nothing to expose and destroy their covert operation.

I had watched the classic Luc Beeson thriller 'Nikita' several years ago and I found it both exciting and harrowing. A drug addict basically kidnapped by a French government black ops agency and trained as an assassin. Jeanne Moreau starred in the original and this movie brought Beeson to the attention of the world. When I heard that it had been remade in America I decided to give it some distance because my rule of thumb is 'if it works, why change it'. It was only after a huge advertising campaign on Sky about the forthcoming third season that I though I would acquire Nikita - Season 1 just to 'dip my toe' in the Nikita pool. The original pilot didn't light my fire but the sheer skill of Maggie Q as the main character that has escaped the grasp of 'Division' as wants to get revenge on those who stole her life and killed her boyfriend. She doesn't do this alone - she, herself, rescues a drug addict, Alex, trains her in secret and then lets her infiltrate Division so that she can spy on them from the inside. Nikita is harassed all the way by her former colleague Michael who still carries a torch for the former assassin. Twenty-two action packed episodes spread over four discs that hook you from the first episode and keep you addicted until the very end. I was so impressed with this series that I have bought the original French movie and the second series of the American remake. It's well worth a look if you're an action fan.
You won't regret purchasing Nikita, the package is great! The image quality is also great.
This is a great show, some very good actors, good for any action drama fans. Bought as a gift so I cant comment on the quality of the Blu-Ray itself.
Nikita - Season 1 is a great series. I missed the series on Sky but I'm really enjoying it now, and I would thoroughly recommended it. It's particularly clever the way you are gradually introduced to the history of the main characters. Very good viewing, especially when there is nothing else to watch on the box!
I bought this mainly because it was offered at an excellent price, especially for Blu-Ray. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Other than the episodes starting with a summary, for those catching the series in the middle. It is full of good action and nice twists. There are times when you have to disengage the brain and enjoy the action, but overall good value for the money.
This item arrived on time and was well packaged, this is a great DVD at a great price, will use this seller again.
Nikita Season 1 is a great series. It brings you back to a classic and actually makes a decent job of it. From start to finish you are living the action and turmoil that occurs. Well worth the 4 stars and season 2 is looking just as good at the moment too.
I bought the Nikita - Season 1 DVD after hearing about it on TV and thought I would buy it on a whim. It's a very good show, well worth a watch and a good price.
What a great series, action packed and a great story line. Looks even better in stunning blu ray for hd.
Maggie Q is superb as Nikita, the ex-spy who's out to destroy the 'Division' that made her. Nikita was an utter surprise to me. I rented it on a whim and it blew me away with it's clever script that keeps you guessing and it's brilliant acting that made me truly care about the characters. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an engaging, edge of your seat experience.
I thought that the treatment given to the Series was quite good. I have the original Nikita and really enjoyed it. I was really impressed by Maggie Q, and her attitude in the main role of Nikita. It is a tough act to follow after the original. Hats off to her and the rest of the crew.
Based upon the original Nikita series and the Assassin film. Starring some very good actors and a good storyline that has kept me watching through to the second series.
Maggie Q knows how to kick ass and this is definitely worth the investment in Blu-Ray.
This series loosely picks up where the previous Nikita series left off. In and on itself it is a fun, action-packed spy VS spy series that moves along a fast space. Each episode has a self-contained story (episodic) that is resolved at the end of the episode but at the same time also moves along the series as a whole (the overarching story line) For a TV series, this Blu-ray set has strong to very-strong video quality. Colours are nice with good contrast. A fine layer of natural grain is visible but absolutely not intrusive and detail is very good (pores on faces are visible, etc). Great video quality! Lossless surround offers some additional immersion with gunshots flying from left to right, back to front. The sound field could have been spaced a bit more but all in all a strong audio track for a TV series Fans of action/spy series will love this and the quality is definitely worth it. A worthwhile buy without questions asked!
