New Doctor, Companions, Tardis, Sonic Screwdriver And Lead Writer. This Is By Far One Of The Better New Series With Good, Sad, Funny Moments Sometimes Mixed Together. Matt Smith Makes A Brilliant Doctor Breathing Some Young Life Into The Show. The Story Arc Is Very Interesting And Answers Questions And Poses New Ones Leding Into The 6th Series Which Also Very Good Like This One.
When this was first broadcast I didn't rate it - the new Doctor was lightweight and the stories tried too hard to have an ongoing narrative whereas with the previous series that had seemed so effortless and natural. However, having viewed this series again I enjoyed it much more and am willing to give Mr Smith more time to show what he can do. The finale was a little weak but overall the stories were interesting and at times clever. Now it is under £20 give it another chance - you might like it.
Not the best in the series, but some pretty solid story lines and it was nice to have a season that didn't just involve the darleks or the cybermen, although they do make the odd cameo appearance throughout the show. The transistion between David Tennant and Matt Smith was pretty seemless, which was good as it allowed the show to move on from the get go. The story arc was a good idea and keeps you guessing right through to the conclusion. As an introductory series for Smith this was not a bad effort, not great, but he does bring a new energy to the show and things can only get better from here.
Really great value, alot of really interesting extras, following the start of Matt Smith and Karen Gillan . Having the dvd is a easy way to recall what you missed and trying to remember what happened from week to week on the tv . Would recommend just for the stories on this dvd Excellent stories great writing plenty of action and the plots are good . There is a extra disc with cut down confidentuals on this is really interesting like I have said before a must for all fans . Keeps you happy between series so you can get your fix . Happy watching
I'm a huge fan of Doctor Who and Tennant is my Doctor, I adore the 10th Doctor. So when Tennant quit I was more than a bit worried about how Matt Smith would get on filling his shoes. I needn't have worried! Matt Smith is FANTASTIC as The Doctor, he is the youngest version of the Doctor but he brings the old man quality back to the role (it had become easy to forget that The Doctor is more than 900years old!) Along side the new Doctor we have a new companion in the form of Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) I personally LOVE Amy Pond (and not just cause I'm Scottish! haha) but I have friend who hate the character, she is very self assured and I can understand why this would become annoying! But you learn as the series develops why she has to be so strong. I adore the storyline between Amy and The Doctor, it is genuinely one of the best I've ever seen on tv. This series is fantastic, well worth the money! A must for any Doctor Who fans, for those who are unsure after David Tennant leaving . . Give the 11th Doctor & Amy a chance, you won't regret it!
