The blockbuster event of the year, Prometheus, comes crashing onto Special Edition Blu-Ray 3D, Blu-Ray and DVD!
Returning to the genre he helped define, Sir Ridley Scott has crafted the most unforgettable experience of 2012 in Prometheus. This gripping, thought-provoking and often terrifying masterpiece features a stellar ensemble cast including Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Noomi Rapace, Logan Marshall-Green and Idris Elba and is a must-have for any self-respecting film fan.
After scientists Elizabeth Shaw (Rapace - The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) and Charlie Holloway (Marshall-Green - Devil) discover mysterious cave drawings that point to the origins of mankind, they soon find themselves aboard the spaceship Prometheus, sponsored by Weyland Industries and on a journey to uncover the secrets of humanity. Overseen by the imperious Meredith Vickers (Theron - Snow White and the Huntsma), looked after by the android David (Fassbender - X-Men: First Class), and backed up by a team of scientists Shaw and Holloway arrive on the isolated moon LV-223 to discover an abandoned alien spaceship and the truth... that not all is as it seems...

I saw this movie at the cinema, waiting eagerly like many other fans of the ALIENS franchise to see how it all began. In the cinema the film was obviously awesome, but watching the DVD was not a let down, great picture, great story, still epic but intimate also, a true cinematic treat in your living room. The plot is sound, the acting is excellent and the special effects, as you might expect, are excellent. I would highly recommend this movie to any sci-fi fan.
Prometheus is a sci-fi story that lacks fluidity in places but is altogether a phenomenal watch. The actors and scenery did a great job of making the film immerse while the atmosphere and special effects created enough suspense and intensity to warrant a watch. Overall Prometheus proved to be thoroughly enjoyable film.
Prometheus is a decent film for its genre but it's not outstanding or particularly innovative in its story and acting. This is the type of film which has been done over and over again, so there's nothing new here however if you want a good action flick, this is the one for you. The CGI and environments are well designed and thought out to make some stunning scenes for this film. The story is interesting and easy to follow however not ground breaking or really surprising. This is a film definitely worth watching because of it's position in the alien franchise and it is genuinely enjoyable.
Alien was never the most original Sci Fi movie owing much to precursors like It, the terror from beyond, space and Mario Bava's Planet of the vampires. But the excellent special effects, Gigers design concepts and Ridley Scotts filming gelled into a remarkable movie. One that over the following years acquired a load of baggage through tie ins with sequels, games, books and the Predator franchise. As a result any prequel is going to have huge continuity problems if it tries to tie in with everything. Prometheus appears very much to be the first of a series as it poses questions about mans connections to the original ship pilot and their possible responsibility for the aliens. As it stands it looks as if more concrete answers will be seen in a sequel. Just how much effort will be made to tie in with the rest of the franchise remains to be seen. It is entirely possible that as Ridley Scott had nothing to do with the other product that he feels no need follow canon rule and intends to plough his own furrow. If as I suspect it is the first of a series I eagerly await the next volume. If it turns out to be a stand alone then it's exquisitely produced and shot but leaves a cliffhanger style end with a few too many unanswered questions.
Ridley Scott returns on form with this sci-fi hit. The effects are amazing and the film is as tense as the first alien film. Go in with your mind open and don't expect it to be a prequel and you will love it. Lots of hints at the alien storyline which nicely fill in storyline gaps. A must see for all alien and sci-fi fans.
Prometheus is one of the few truly exciting blockbuster science fiction films to be released in a long time. It may not be everybodys favourite due to the ambiguous way some things are left, but it's a great homage to the big sci-fis of the past such as Space Odessey and the original Planet of the Apes. Not everything needs to be spelt out for it to be a great film. Another thing to note that although a lot of people consider it to be a direct prequel that leads on to Alien, it is probably better to consider Prometheus to be something that exsists in the same canon as Alien. Aside from references to it within the set design, it is a wholly different film.
