As tried and tested by the four game reviewers of the popular Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, Kid Icarus gained a whopping 40/40; ten out of ten from each reviewer! This is just the nineteenth title out of the twenty six years the magazine has been in business that has received a perfect score, and it's not hard to see why.

Kid Icarus: Uprising is the feverishly anticipated third game in the legendary saga that has been enjoyed by all for over twenty five years, and is the follow up to the original game Kid Icarus. Uprising was created and designed specifically for the Nintendo 3DS by Masahiro Sakurai (creator of Kirby and Super Smash Bros.), and was developed by his team at Project Sora.
Step once again into the shoes of our angelic protagonist Pit, who finds himself face to face with a reborn Medusa. Hell-bent on exterminating all of mankind, Medusa and her Underworld Army have only one thing standing in their way between world domination: Pit. Knowing he cannot defeat these terrifying monsters on his own, Pit joins forces with Palutena, the Goddess of Light and guardian of the human race. In order to give Pit a helping hand, Palutena grants Pit with the Miracle Of Flight; this allows him to fly for a certain amount of time, and aids him in travelling to all corners of the world, where monsters and an evil doppelgänger by the name of Dark Pit await him...

Kid Icarus: Uprising is perfectly balanced when it comes to fast-paced action and beautiful environments. The game is a visually dazzling and graphically breathtaking creation, completely jam packed with action sequences that are set at incredible breakneck speed. There are two different style of combat; aerial and ground, which gives you two levels to admire the gorgeous scenery and try out all of Pit's new moves and weapons. The air chapters in this story are set as guided on-rail shooting segments, with Palutena guiding Pit's path and leaving him to shoot and dodge the attacks of the flying enemies that pursue you. When on the ground, the combat is set in the style of a third person shooter, with both long range and close quarters combat ready at your fingertips; shoot from a distance, or get up close and personal with melee attacks, as well as various moves at your disposal that will allow you to dodge enemy attacks with style.
When it comes to weapons, there are a wide variety that have been introduced in order to make battle all the more layered, strategic, and exhilarating. There are nine different categories which include bows, claws, blades, and more, each type offering their own special bonuses and ability boosts; improved running speed, for example. Defeated enemies will provide you with weapons and also hearts, which act as the game's currency. These hearts can be used to increase the difficulty of Uprising by betting them against the computer, and proving you are good enough to have the difficulty raised on the game's scalable difficulty meter, otherwise known as the Fiend's Cauldron. When the difficulty is increased, you will earn better weapon drops and rewards when you defeat enemies and complete chapters; the higher the difficulty, the more powerful the equipment. These innovative features within Kid Icarus: Uprising are in abundance, and prove just how exceptional this game truly is. Overall, Uprising was more than worth the wait. (Cat Emerson)

Kid Icarus: Uprising is a great 3DS game with unquestionable replay value. The gameplay is amazing, the dialogues are hilarious and the story keeps dragging you to play the game. Actually, there are many plot twists along the way, so you're never sure what's going to happen next, letting you unravel the mystery. All the action is mixed with an excellent soundtrack, making the whole adventure a more pleasurable one. You can also change the controls at will, so if you're not the kind of person who likes to use the stylus and the 3DS stand all the time, there is always another way to play the game. Uprising allows you to play the way you want: lower difficulties will bring you safety, but less rewards; harder ones will be a challenge, but the treasures you can obtain from this kind of risky strategy are worth the effort. You'll be able to replay chapters over and over again, so it's great to come back once in a while to try to obtain new kinds of treasures. There's a great arsenal at your disposition and you can also create new weapons by the use of a fusion system. If you're tired of the single player, you can still have fun with the multiplayer mode. As you can see, there are many reasons to buy this game, making it one of the best titles in the Nintendo 3DS library.
Since I've had Kid Icarus: Uprising I have not stopped playing. There are many things to do and there are many awards to play again the chapter, and you can change the difficulty to obtain better weapons. Section multiplayer is amazing, very funny and very entertaining and without lag. You can enjoy the game without the circle pad pro. If you do not know what game to buy, this one will ensure fun for long time.
The 3D on the 3DS is a gadget but it's interesting with this game. At the beginning, I didn't know what think about this game. In each level, it's the same thing, flying, running, shooting, boss. . . . But it may refer to the definition of a game. This game is fun and addictive. what do you expect? Fun, I can repeat 100 times the levels, and it is hard to reach the highest level of difficulty. I like the system of Icarons and weapons makes the game even more addictive.
Kid Icarus uprising is a game I was looking forward since it was announced for the 3DS. Now that I have gotten it and played it, the question stands, did it live up to my expectations? When starting up the game I am met by a very sweet title menu that lets me jump wherever I want with the touch screen. As I wanted to get right into the action I started the single player campaign right away. Oh how happy I became. Each stage in Kid Icarus Uprising is divided into two diffrent parts. The flying part and the ground part. Each stage start out with the Flying part which is a total blast. You fly around with Pit blasting away bad guys while enjoying the story, that is told during the stages. Here you control Pit with the slide pad while aiming with the touch screen. After you finished the fly part, you take the battle to the ground. Here you run around freely while still aiming with the touch screen. This takes some getting used to, but it works all right when you get into it. It also have a multiplayer mode that is not as fun as the Story one but fun enough to sink your teeth in. While its good that the action is fast, it is also what keeps me from setting 5/5 grade, since you easy miss some story text when concentrating on all the action and the ground battles can become a bit frustrating at times since you have to aim with the touchscreen. All in all however, Kid Icarus Uprising is an amazing game which gives hours of angel fun.
Once again the Nintendo 3DS can do no wrong, after the excellent Mario Kart 7 and Resident Evil: Revelations, a new stellar hit arrives on our 3DS screens. Kid Icarus: Uprising is an adventure you will not want to miss, it has everything going for it! Embark on an exciting adventure with Pit the angel against the evil Medusa, using countless different weapons and trying out the innovative touch controls. The multiplayer is just as good if not better, with team battles and single deathmatch. Highly recommended!
Kid Icarus: Uprising is the most fun game I have played this year on any system. Hours after finishing it, I still play the campaign on various difficulty sets, in order to get weapons to fuse into stronger ones and so on. I played very little of the excellent and challenging multiplayer, which means that this game has no end. It gets you hooked. Tons of replay value and content guarantees a purchase that you won't regret. As for the difficulty of the controls, this is part of what makes the game so good, it contains a mastery level so rewarding and satisfying that only the greatest games of the past had. The very finest!
Kid Icarus: Uprising is an amazing game. Lots of people have been complaining about the lack of dual-stick controls, but I think that the combination of the circle pad and touch screen is even more accurate than dual-stick. The graphics are stunning, controls are great and the gameplay is superb. The online multiplayer is pretty fun as well, and you get new weapons after every game. I recommend this game to everyone!
Kid Icarus is a real gem. Put the time into this game, and you will be rewarded with a top-quality gaming experience. The controls are a little tricky to master at first, but once you master them and start gaining extra weapons and abilities, the game-play is awesome. The in-game guides are really helpful too.
When I first played this game I expected to have some fun, and I certainly did. Kid Icarus Uprising uses the stylus brilliantly to combine air-shooting and ground fighting levels, it's true that at first it can be a bit complicated to get used to the system but don't worry, you'll end up having no trouble at all, and the game even comes with a console support which helps you play at home. It is a pretty good game everyone so go get it already!
This game is incredible! You can feel that it has been made for the 3DS, the depth works perfectly. Graphics are sublime and the music fit the on-screen action, which can be heavy! The game itself can be a real challenge if you want to have all weapons and explore every places in levels, depending on the difficulty you choose. Unfortunately the camera is not easy to master and that is sometimes awful when there are plenty of enemies to fight, that's probably the reason why Nintendo includes the 3DS stand. Beside this the game is a must-have and deserve to be owned for all the content it has.
This game rewards old-time fans of the Kid Icarus franchise. Or does it? One way or another, Pit returns in a new adventure, designed as an incredibly high-paced action game, divided between segments in the air and on the ground. There is a lot of content in this game, and even fooled me into thinking it was shorter than it actually was. Which is good! The single player mode is pretty straight forward, and can be adjusted to your skill-level as a player. The multiplayer however doesn't let up, so you best stay on your toes as you find and fight friends and random people in order to compete for weapons and powers. You can work together as a team of 3 vs 3, or go solo if you so prefer. Even 1 on 1 matches can be intense, as you try to predict your opponents actions so you can time that dodge or charge shot perfectly. Good luck!
Kid Icarus: Uprising is a fantastic game packed with stuff, a storymode that's not only quite long for a handheld title, but also hilariously written, and replayable to the max. And with over 100 different kinds of weapons, that can all have even more different sub-abilities, there's the possibility to play just like you want to. And then of course there's the multiplayer mode; play it with friends around you, or with strangers online. It's a fantastic addition to the game, and it plays very smoothly. The game is packed with much more than just this, and will easily give you over 100 hours of fun. This game just shows that the Smash Brothers creator, Masahiro Sakurai, has done it again. Bravo!
Kid Icarus Uprising is a lot of fun. The flying scenes are great combat scenarios with awesome graphics and enough variation and challange to get you to come back for more. The same can be said for when playing with Pit on the ground, however the controls can get you a bit fatigued when playing in longer sections. All in all it's a really good game with lots of replay value due to a tremendous amount of stuff to collect and last but not least the multiplayer option.
First of all i want to congratulate Zavvi as when you buy this game you get a special download code emailed to you (about a couple of days after you receive the game) it entitles you to a free Kid Icarus game on the Virtual console via Eshop. Fantastic little bonus. The main game though is fantastic, it is pure gaming heaven (even if it does ache your hands - adds to the experience!) 10/10 Game This is what gaming is all about! nothing realistic about this game so don't buy it for realism! Pure fantasy and shooting in one, a must!
My expectations where quite high when I bought this game as the original Kid Icarus is one of my favourite games of all time. This game is, in my eyes, not a true sequel to Kid Icarus. The controls are pretty crap and the gameplay is quite shallow. However the weapon system is really cool and offers a lot of depth in customising your character. The online gaming is really good and balanced if you go for the team vs team mode. I wish they had made a 2.5D Metrovania sequel instead. This game might as well have the God of War brand slapped on to it.
Kid Icarus: Uprising is THE best game on the 3DS at this point. The graphics are beautiful, the 3D effect is well implemented but isn't too overwhelming, the story is fun and a joy to go through, and the cheesy dialogue will have you laughing quite a few times throughout the adventure. On top of this is the excellent multiplayer which has me going back for more everyday. If you're a fan of the Smash Bros series then you will love the mulitplayer in this game. All in all, the 25 years waiting for Pits return has been worth it. Roll on the next Kid Icarus game!
Kid Icarus is an awesome game, it had controls that were difficult to use but the 3DS stand helped me with the controls. The plot was great and the way the characters were making fun of each other and the multiplier was even greater. What I liked most was the variety of weaponry and the way you can fuse weapons. I recommend this game to all gamers who are up for challenges.
This is a totally brilliant game with beautiful stages and amazing enemies. The Solo mode is the main story and is easy to immerse yourself in for hours on end. The multiplayer modes just add to the astounding gameplay as you can battle against friends nearby or people from anywhewre on earth, in teams or as a one man army. With breathtaking detail in the stage layouts and astonishing weapons, enemies, characters and stories, this is definitely THE best game on the 3DS.
Up until several weeks ago, I had never heard of Pit, or even Kid Icarus for that matter. However, upon reading the game features in various magazines and watching the jaw dropping trailers, my interest gradually grew and grew. I decided to take a chance and order it, and simply put, this game is epic in every single way and, for a handheld, just stunning to behold. This game has soooo much content and is superb value for money, so to sum this game up shortly (so i can get back to playing it :)) + Graphics are simply amazing, and if MK7 and SM3DL ever had a baby, this would be the result in those terms. + Hilarious dialog and references to various games. + Engaging story, with more twists and turns than an eel on heat... + Various weapons to use, find, gain, and fuse... + Endless replayability with the fiends cauldren, various chapters, intensity levels, and not to mention multiplayer. + AR battles are a dream to watch and a fun diversion. + Unlockables, treasures, and achievements to hunt down. + The music is simply moving and some of the best ever in a video game I have ever played. + Excellent mix and execution of air-land-boss battles, all of which are some of the most pleasing and thrilling gaming experiences I have ever experienced. I'm delighted with this game and so happy I took the plunge and gave it a go. To me, this is a legendary game, one that will be talked about for many years to come. If Kid Icarus Uprising is this good, then Pits next adventure and Super Smash Bros 3ds will be in a whole new league altogether...I can't wait! So grab your blade (and sandles) and let your wings soar and join the fight against Medusa and the Underworld... Enjoy!
Every so often a game comes along and completely captures everything that I look for in a game. Games that simply must be experienced by anyone with even a passing interest in gaming. Kid Icarus Uprising is one such game. Everything from the level design to the phenomenal scripting reeks of a kind of care and thoughtful design rarely seen in today's market. But first a bit of a background. Kid Icarus is actually not a new IP, with Uprising being a continuation of a series that first saw the light of day on the NES, but it may as well be. Nintendo's first party development teams are renowned for their high quality games, but this is radically different from pretty much everything Nintendo has ever churned out, featuring fresh and innovative gameplay and a fully voiced and spectacular storyline. In terms of gameplay Uprising is split into two distinct styles; aerial flying sections in the vein of games Sin and Punishment and Starfox, and ground based third person action sections. The former are truly spectacular, showcasing beautifully the scope and grandeur of the landscapes the developers have sculpted. These sections only last around five minutes, but they're often so intense (especially on higher difficulties) that any longer would be exhausting. After these sections are the ground based missions, taking place over sprawling complexes littered with enemies. The aim in these sections is to fight your way from the landing area to that level's boss. It is worth noting at this point the flaw that has led to Uprising receiving a number of negative reviews; the controls for the ground sections are rather contrived, requiring you to move using the circle pad, fire with the L button and swipe the touch screen to change direction. The issue with this scheme is that you end up supporting the 3Ds with one hand, which isn't the most comfortable way of doing things. However, the game comes bundled with a stand for the system that makes it all much easier, and once you have played the game for a while the control becomes second nature. Some critics have bemoaned the lack of circle pad pro support, but believe me when I say the speed and dexterity required to play this game simply couldn't be provided using a twin stick control scheme. Unusually for a Nintendo game the story in Uprising is truly something special. I don't want to spoil anything, but what starts simply takes a number of turns that you will never see coming. The voice work and scripting also deserves a special mention. The characters are all very funny and unique (seriously, this game is second only to portal two in terms of how funny it is!) and are constantly bantering with each other during levels. Cleverly, this is how most of the game's story is told- during the gameplay. Very rarely will you encounter a cutscene, meaning that the action goes pretty much uninterrupted. I could go on. There are so many more things I could praise, such as the innovative and clever intensity system for controlling a level's difficulty or the fantastic musical score, but frankly I'd be beating a dead horse. Believe me when I say that this game transcends anything previously seen on Nintendo's fledgling handheld. I love it!
Kid Icarus Uprising is nothing short of a perfect game, there is never a point in the game where you are not having fun, having a good balance of in flight and ground combat, the game will have you shooting nasty s for hours on end. The overall art style is stunning and pushes the 3ds to great lengths whilst keeping a high frame rate, whilst the accompanying sound track is just awesome! With the lengthy single player mode and thrilling multi player combat, both local and wifi, this game is a definite must-get for any 3DS owner.
This is one of my favourite games ive played EVER!! Everyone complains about the controls, yes they take some getting used to but after an hour youll love them! The multiplayer is this game is astonishing, it has 2 modes both of which are addictive and fun. the single player is packed with content, it will take about 12 hours to complete but if you dont get addicted to the multiplayer or just to do single player on a harder intensity nothing will. This game is totally different to the original, the original was all about platforming, this game is full of action that will keep you hooked for hours on end. It is, believe it or not quite like the 3D version of super smash bros. it has the same action packed fighting in multiplayer and the same feel to the single player; where theres basically loads of enemies to kill really fast. a must have for ANY gamer. I would buy a 3DS for this game alone!
From what i played at E3 and various game events i can say that Nintendo really didn't rush this at all. The game itself is impressive and worth the wait and the money. The graphics are very good and the games easy to get used to with the control setup plus with a multi player this game has a massive replay value. The story revolves around Greek mythology. The game's protagonist Pit a young angel sent by the goddess along with a variety of weapons at his disposal the game varies from air based battles lasting 5 minutes then land based levels with plenty of action to keep the adveridge gamer entertained the boss fights can be a little tricky at first but once you know how they attack players should be fine. Kid Icarus Uprising is a recommended title for all 3DS owners and those that buy it wont be disappointed there maybe a wait for the game but i assure you its worth the wait
