Football Manager 2014 for PS Vita is the first game in the series’ long and successful history to allow cross-platform compatibility away from home computers, meaning that fans who own both Football Manager 2014 for PC, Mac or Linux and PS Vita will be able to carry on a single continuous game, whether they’re at home using their computer or out and about with their PlayStation Vita (or vice versa).

In addition, Football Manager 2014 for PS Vita will also be the first ever handheld game to feature Football Managers’s acclaimed 3D Match Engine, adding an extra layer of realism and immersion that’s been unavailable in previous Football Manager games for handheld devices, alongside a pretty much identical feature set to Football Manager on home computers.

Football Manager Classic 2014

3 stars out of a maximum of 5

It's Football Manager Classic, the PC game, translated in its entirety to the PS Vita. This is no mean feat, and the only key difference in playablility is being limited to 3 nations. How good is the translation? The full match engine looks amazing on the PS Vita screen - this is the highlight of the experience. The menus are fiddly, and working the touchscreen is awkward and takes some getting used to. Having said that it's much easier than lugging a laptop around if you want to play on the go. Progression of the game is on the slow side, especially compared with the PC version. A game takes approx 15-20 mins to play, can be more if you put the full level of highlights on and take your time to analyse what's going on (which is worth doing if you want to win more often than lose.) All in all a cracking effort, and a much more immersive experience (a proper FM experience) in a handheld for the first time.
