Xenoblade Chronicles: Includes Wii Classic Controller

While Xenoblade Chronicles can be played with just the Wii Remote and Nunchuck, it was bundled with the Classic Controller Pro for a reason - it's a much more fluid experience for those of us versed in playing RPGs of this calibre. Some may also be attracted by the colour, which is as rich a red as is displayed on the cover art. For those of you wondering if this "Pro" version is better than the older Classic Controller, the answer is a resounding YES. Whatever possessed Nintendo to have no palm grips and for the wire to jut out from the bottom of the pad, they've done a wonderful u-turn with the Pro. As for the game itself; it's one of those titles that you can tell will be awesome from the very first cinematic. The gameplay is unique, blending classic RPG elements with some almost MMO-esque battle mechanics. Positioning and planning are key in battles, with a focus on skill rather than random chance or number crunching. It's also refreshing to hear the voices in this game - they're British! No corny American-accented heroes so far, and nowhere to be seen the generic anime-inspired female love interest. Without going into spoilers, I'll just remind you that the US were clamouring for this game to be released over the pond for over 6 months. Now that they've finally got it, they're giving it rave reviews. While it got less attention in the UK, I urge any RPG fan with a Wii sitting abandoned - all Zelda'd out - to give this bundle a go. You won't be disappointed.

The best RPG on Wii

Xenoblade Chronicles has a large open world with a lot of different quests and a deep skills development system. An interesting plot with a wonderful soundtrack.
