Murphy Pendleton has been incarcerated for several years, having had his sentence extended once already. Due to his history at Ryall State Prison, he is being transferred to nearby Wayside Maximum Security Penitentiary-but a freak accident cuts the journey short. Waking up in a forest next to the wrecked bus, Murphy has a clear shot at freedom. He makes his way into the sleepy town of Silent Hill where mysterious locals welcome him into a slowly developing personal hell.
Silent Hill Downpour is the latest Silent Hill game offering the familiar Survival Horror gameplay delivered in the most defined visual quality to date. The game also expands on the exploration theme of the franchise both design-wise and through psychological torture, ambient story, horrific enemies and self-evaluative questions of despair.

Silent Hill: Downpour Review
If you like survival horror, and you like Silent Hill, you will like this game. The experience of Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 will not be reproduced--because they already exist, and doing so would be to remake those games. By playing Downpour you will see for yourself how good this game is. Definitely worth buying.

Silent Hill: Downpour
Silent Hill Downpour is the 8th episode of the saga, and compared with previous titles, it still provides the same frightening experience. Besides the terror experienced in the town of Silent Hill, the player comes across various puzzles that they have to solve, and most arent be that easy. This game also allows you to do side quests. These quests are not really necessary to finish the game, but helps you get a 100% completion rating. Another new feature is that Murphy has the option to choose good or evil actions, which will influence the end of the game. I notied that the way to open doors is very similar to Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, as it makes you to think twice before venturing into a room. However the fight against the enemies becomes frustrating - sometimes it is preferable to run away than waste time with these guys. You cannot pick up a gun and use it the entire game against enemies, you just have lots of weapons spread in almost every corner in the game, that helps you during fighting, but most of them break easily.

a slow downpour
For a long time I have wanted to feel again a darkness and puzzling emotion that only Silent Hill could give to you. Could this new title do that for me? It tried and partially succeeded! First thing that hits you after you enter all Silent Hill games is the graphics. All the texture used and especially the lighting gives you an indescribable feeling of mystery and terror. Downpour on the other hand has very clean graphics that doesn't really fit with the Silent Hill atmosphere. Of course I appreciate the up-scaling to 1080p despite 720p native resolution, but I don't appreciate this trend; call it a personal preference. Fog, lighting, and the way houses and the entire city is made in this resolution can't recreate the strange atmosphere from other Silent Hill titles. Otherwise the graphics are good and proper for a modern title. In gameplay I found it very awkward to use the same button to pick up any kind of object, for both inventory and for weapons, because you can carry only one main weapon at once. I think any firearms are more difficult to use than a melee weapon because you find very little ammunition, and from what I can see the damage done is the same. Of course you can use an firearm without bullets like a melee weapon but I think an axe is more satisfactory because of handling and power. The controls are sometimes very awkward in some moments, especially when you have a safe with many buttons and you want to switch between them; I think it's very smart to introduce a button to look over your shoulder, and of course the camera now moves freely and you can see in any direction. Sound and voice acting are both nice, but personally I found the music and especially some creepy noises from precedent titles more appropriate for the Silent Hill atmosphere. Downpour looks like a game with nice graphics and tricky puzzles put in the universe of Silent Hill, but without being Silent Hill. Or maybe Im too obsessed with previous titles. Anyway, this game is a must buy for anyone who loves the saga!

Silent Hill: Downpour
Having been a long-term fan of the series, I was a bit skeptical about this one as the developer had very few previous games under its belt. Any apprehension I had was unnecessary, this is in all possible aspects a return to form of the Silent Hill series, with a plotline which could actually rival that of Silent Hill 2 [blasphemy, I know - but wait and see for yourself].
