XCOM: Enemy Unknown will place you in control of a secret paramilitary organisation called XCOM. As the XCOM commander, you will defend against a terrifying global alien invasion by managing resources, advancing technologies, and overseeing combat strategies and individual unit tactics.
The original X-COM is widely regarded as one of the best games ever made and has now been re-imagined by the strategy experts at Firaxis Games. XCOM: Enemy Unknown will expand on that legacy with an entirely new invasion story, enemies and technologies to fight aliens and defend Earth. You will control the fate of the human race through researching alien technologies, creating and managing a fully operational base, planning combat missions and controlling soldier movement in battle.

the graphics are not excellent, but I bought this because it is one of the few good strategy games present on ps3
XCOM Enemy Unknown is a great title I like this game because it is different than other similar games. I like destroy U.F.O. after you assembly your squad. The missions are always different every game that you start. I recommended this game to all that love strategy games and science fiction.
XCOM Enemy Unknown is absolutely my Game of the Year. I've never played the original but I'm very much looking forward to the upcoming Enemy Within. XCOM is a great tactic/strategy mix and I've been sinking countless hours into it over the last couple of weeks.
I think XCOM Enemy Unknown is possibly the best strategic game for PS3, you have to think your moves and actions before you do them. The combat is a shift combat but it is very fluent, so it is not boring at all. If you played UFO Enemy Unknown on PC some years ago, it is still the same game but even more improved.
I was really surprised by XCOM Enemy Unknown - I mean a lot of people praised this game but I still did not expect it to be that good. It is properly difficult tactics game that will keep you hooked behind the screen for tens and tens of hours if you like this type of game.
XCOM Enemy Unknown is the best thing I have played in a long, long time.
I played the demo and immediately purchased the game. Highly addictive and very charming strategy game. If you're old enough you'll remember the awesome prequels and this one is just as great although much more beginner friendly. One of the best games of this console generation.
Very good game . very good graphics . good weapons good stratagy
XCOM Enemy Unknown is one of the best turn-based strategic games I have ever played.
XCOM Enemy Unknown is a great game! There should be more strategy games available for the PS3.
XCOM Enemy Unknown is outstanding. It has just the right mix of elements from the old games and new features. The graphics are great for such a turn-based game, and the simple control option leaves enough time to concentrate on the essentials of the game, which is finding the best tactic to kill aliens. For a fan of the old games and for people that want to escape the thousands of shooters available, this is a must have.
I had been looking forward to XCOM Enemy Unknown since the day I heard of it. As an old fan of the original X-COM: Enemy Unknown, I eagerly awaited the results. Now, I could spend some time comparing the old classic with the new game, but I will not do so. Why? Because this remake comes up short in every department but graphics. I was, to be honest, disappointed. That said, I decided to look at it as a completely new and different game (which it is to the larger degree). The game begins with a way-too-long tutorial (it can be skipped though), which explains the layout of the game. You get a squad of operatives and set out to hunt down aliens. The game centers around fighting, building your base, managing resources to a degree and making choices about where to fight while making sure the nations of the world stay on board the project for as long as possible. You start with some basic structures in your base and you have to make choices about what buildings/rooms to construct. You have to allocate scientists to research new technology and have engineers to produce the stuff that you research. The availability of new staff for this task is annoying, as you can't recruit them by hiring them, instead they come as rewards for missions. As for missions, you get some choices. For example, terror missions might occur at the same time, and you have to pick where to go and fight. While picking, you have to keep track of how scared people are on a given continent, as well as what the reward is for completing the mission. One thing that bugs me is that you are stuck with a single base, and thus, stuck with a single troop mode of transport. Anyhow, on to the fighting. You start with a group of 4 operatives, and with base development you can max out on 6 operatives to take on a single mission. I can understand it from a developer's point of view, as the game is made for a console and managing large squads with the menu system would be complicated, but still, it made me really sad as I had been looking forward to larger battles. Combat is made up of moving around a pre-generated map (you will get the same maps several times) and keeping your operatives in cover whilst trying to flank the aliens. You have a few class choices to make on what operatives to take - assault, sniper, heavy etc. I didn't like this system at all, but it makes sense from a developer's point of view. Movement is made up of you moving your men/women two times a turn and firing at everything that moves. This is not bad, but aliens are not mobile until spotted on the map, and maps are too small so you can't properly outflank enemies at all times. But all in all, it's kind of entertaining. When your operatives die, and they will. you will never get them back. So it's bothering to see your vets getting fried by plasma. You can hire new soldiers as you require them, as long as you have money, but you need to start them over from 'rookie', and that means you can't equip them as you like which is truly annoying. That's basically it. It's not a bad game, but not an exceptional one either. If you are a fan of the old X-COM original, you may not enjoy this installment much. That said, it's faster and more action-packed so to speak, so I believe it is made to reach out to a broader audience.
XCOM Enemy Unknown is a magnificent selection for those who loved the original back in the 90s. It has very good game play and a variety of missions. It's a must have game. I was really sad when I finished it. Evolution, research and battling against U.F.Os are some of the elements that will make you love it.
Great game, introducing the rebirth of the tactic strategic games. You will play the same mission several times until you get the results that you want. The game has the spirit of the original XCOM games. The control for PS3 is really comfortable, you won't need a mouse.
I got XCOM Enemy Unknown game after a friend recommended it, and I am totally hooked... I wish I was playing it right now. Go for the Ironman mode, you cannot reload a saved game, and it autosaves, so every mistake you make, every squad member you lose, its permanent! It makes trying to save the world seem a bit more real.
XCOM Enemy Unknown has completely lived up to its predecessors. It's true that some of the management aspects have been simplified and are a little more linear, but the game play of the missions is so addictive and so nerve-wracking that the overall result is a great game.
This game is incredible, never heard of it until a couple of weeks before its release, then read a couple of reviews and played the demo and I totally fell in love with it. It's a great turn based strategy game, with an interesting sci-fi B-movie feel to it, and plenty of replay-ability. I haven't felt this excited for a game in a long time. Fans of the old original PC game will love it for sure, but newcomers like myself can jump into this series without feeling like they're missing something. It is part of a series but not story wise, so it can also be considered as a standalone game. Looking forward to some DLC and hopefully a sequel!
Very good game I have long been waiting for the game
This game is in my opinion the best game of the year so far. The graphics are great for a game by a small developer and the strategy and micro management sections are brilliant. Even if you're not a strategy lover I still urge you to at least show your support for a game that's not just another "brownie grey" shooter. Go on, buy it, play it, enjoy it.
