Mini Ninjas = Maxi fun
Mini ninjas is a third person action game that places the player in the shoes of Hiro, a ninja in training who must rise to meet a great and evil challenge that threatens the world. He isn't the best ninja around, in fact the ninja master has sent all his other ninjas before finally selecting Hiro, but with the player's help, Hiro can be triumphant. Hiro will unlock other ninjas during his travels after having rescued them and they will lend their help in defeating the evil samurai overlord and stop him from turning all the world's animals into evil henchmen. Graphically, Mini Ninjas is beautiful, no doubt about it. The unique art-style makes a vivid, cartoony enviroment in which the player explores forests, mountains and castles as he battles through hordes of evil samurai minions. The controls are very user friendly and almost never become complicated so the user is free to fully immerse himself into the game, without being jarred from it due to input difficulties. As the player explores the game, he will have to battle minions using both regular attacks as well as secret ninja spells that he finds in hidden shrines throughout his journey. In addition, he will learn alchemy which will help him make potions which when consumed grant him enhanced abilities or health. To be fair however it can be said that Mini Ninjas becomes a bit too simple in the long run. Scores of enemies hardly provide a challenge to a seasoned player unless playing in the hardest difficulty mode. Boss battles are also rather simple, requiring very little effort on the player's half. In addition, being based on levels (zones through which the player journeys before moving onto the next zone) the player can become frustrated if he's one of those players who relishes returning to previously explored areas in order to find all items, power ups and etc. Despite these minor flaws, Mini Ninjas is a very enjoyable game. It may not have much replay value or provide a great enough challenge but it has charming graphics and lovely audio in addition to enjoyable controls that make this game well worth it.
