    Description

SSX has returned, revamped and reinvented from the original of the beloved arcade franchise. A few familiar faces are back, the team of Zoe Payne, Moby, Psymon, Mac, Kaori and Elise banding together once more in this extreme snowboarding dream come true. This team's glory hungry mission this time around is that they want to be the first to descend the slopes of the most dangerous mountains in the world. As part of the team, it's you vs. mountain... good luck.

There are nine incredibly detailed, real life mountain ranges in this SSX, as opposed to the fictional ranges created in previous games. Through the use of NASA topographical satellite data, a Google Earth inspired interface has been born, with exaggerated versions of the Himalayas, Alps, Rockies, and more as part of the nine ranges; twenty seven mountains in total to explore and conquer. Each mountain face is a wide open terrain with multiple elevations and starting points, to which you are delivered by helicopter. This SSX has also introduced an innovative physics engine, which allows you to defy both the laws of reality and gravity as you race and trick your way through each level. Survival is equally as important as being the best snowboarder in this game, as you also have to battle against mother nature herself as she pits avalanches, freezing temperatures, white outs and more at you.

As you explore these vast terrains and the game itself, you will be able to take part in various fun elements; Race Drops, where you try to set the fastest time, Trick Drops, where you will try and score the most points, and Survival Drops, where you test yourself to descend the furthest down the mountain as you possibly can. A leaderboard keeps track of all of yours and your friends scores and times, even placing their ghosts when you play the same runs as they did, allowing you to see how well they performed. Upgrading the gear you possess definitely helps when it comes to being the best; you can improve your board and be able to ride faster, perform greater tricks, and maybe even survive the mountain for longer. You can also get your hands on wing suits, which enable you to glide for longer distances, and therefore allot you more time to perform tricks in. The tricks are mounted up in your Tricky meter, a combo system which gives you more points the more you can do in one trick, and the levels in this game are designed just to give you such opportunities.

An additional revolutionary feature of SSX is the River Net, a keenly developed recommendation Autolog engine that will help to guide players through the game. The River Net will allow you to “like” your favourite drops, as well as recommend new ones to you. Global Events is the main online section of the game, hosting the biggest and best social competitions that can hold up to 100, 000 participants. This allows the SSX universe to pit real players against each other in real time, with an event lasting from a single run to hours, and even up to days. When you place on the leaderboard that keeps track of the scores you will move up or down even when you're not playing the game, as it keeps itself up-to-date with both yours, and the world's progress. SSX is my second game of the franchise. I played "SSX on tour" on the Gamecube and I enjoyed it a lot. One of the reasons why I bought this new episode, very fun and very accessible but sometimes gameplay ideas are bad and make the game annoying.

    my boys love this!

I bought this after my 2 sons pestered me for ages. they love it, they hadn’t played any of the other games in this series (but they no probably getting the hang of it.) so I couldn’t tell you if it’s any better or worse than the others but it is a really good game, the characters `personalities` come out with through game play and it’s easy to lose track of time trying `master` the tricks.

    Excellent Entertainment Gaming

Ever since I played SSX 3 back in the old days, since 2005. SSX was a huge hit back then, and now returns to the new Xbox 360, with spectacular graphics, new gameplay, better soundtrack, this game is a hit. Zavvi was the first to lower the price on it, so I got it and now I’m sliding down mount Everest, and the game is better than ever. Fun: 9/10 Graphics: 9/10 soundtrack: 7/10

    My First purchase

I will explain the purchase, I should say that this is my first purchase on the internet , and I was afraid to do it but zavvi didn't disappoint me at all. my friends were shocked that I got the game only by 4 days while they waited for nine days. one thing that I can say is Zavvi is a safe for games there is a lot of people around me that agreed.

    SSX - Wicked.

Getting SSX on the 360 was a happy piece of news, but the control system means that you end up re-learning it from scratch. It's prettiness does distract you so that it's quite an enjoyable learning curve, and the control system with its directional flics does start making sense after some game time. It's just a beautiful game, well worth investing in for any SSX fan, or anyone who hasn't yet tried it out yet.

    a good return to form

As a fan of the old ssx tricky when it came out i was excited by the new one coming to current gen consoles. it doesn't disappoint with massive over the top stunts and courses. A bit gutted at the loss of 2 player split screen but the online multiplayer is still good. if you enjoyed tricky. you'll enjoy this.

    SSX

The Return of SSX is very good. The game is well developed, and the graphics are great for its genre. The only problems are the single-player, and the absence of a one-on-one mode, that if introduced, would be truly the maximum! The absence of not being able to buy what you want, makes thing a little random, seeing as the player has to adjust to every track. The rest of the game is fluid, with so many tracks, and many types of players.

    SSX is back

This game is pure fun. If you like previous SSX games then you will like this one. The tracks have great design and are fun to ride on with multiple paths to go. The online is very addictive and you always try to beat your friends high score. There are three game modes: Trick it, Race it and Survival. Some characters from previous games are back plus some new ones. I recommend this game it's fun.

    SSX

If you’re a fan or the originals you are going to like it. The control of the rider feels different to the originals but is still smooth going. It’s a great game and the rider-net features make this a game that you keep coming back to and one more go mentality as you are trying to beat your friends top times and scores. The majority of the tracks are good and evolve into each other like in SSX 3. It’s a shame that the silliness and not taken itself serious aspect seems to be missing. There are some things though that can annoy or make it a pain playing, and they are the story and the deadly descents. The story is absolutely ridiculous and idiotic without trying to be so. It is like the writings of an eight year old boy. The deadly descents are really bad and put in ridiculous features to try make the game and story 'Extreme'. The deadly descents are also the main point of the story mode and the tracks themselves are not great to race or trick on. My advice is to just plough through the story mode to get a feel and get straight into Rider-net. Overall it’s a good game that’s brought down by a lot of misjudged steps to make the game more serious and extreme.

    SSX

SSX is just one of those games that takes you back to how games used to be, and shows you how it should be done. I can only describe it as a boarder would do, and call it "wickedly sick", for the fact it's graphics are amazing and game-play is awesome! Lots of new features have been chucked in to the mix as well, and I absolutely love it.

    Frantic ! but good !

SSX has very good graphics and is an all round brilliant game. I was really looking forward to the release as I have followed the SSX saga from the beginning! The only thing that I woud say is a little disappointing is the absolute frantic pace of the game, I found it hard to keep up in places and some of the control that you have in previous titles is lost due to the fast paced gameplay. Saying that, it's still extremely fun and addictive!

    SSX

I could not wait to get into the new SSX game, and it didn't fail to please. The graphics and game play are much improved on the old versions, and everything just feels more fun overall. I couldn't put it down for over an hour. Nice one EA.
