Spooky season is upon us, and that means you can expect incredible horror steelbooks and 4Ks all month long.

However, if you’re not a fan of the genre – and we know that many of you are scaredy cats – don't worry, as the month is stacked with an eclectic range of releases, including new high-definition restorations of a range of beloved movie classics.

As always, release dates are correct at the time of writing but are subject to change; keep an eye on our site for the most up-to-date listings. As it stands right now, here’s your week-by-week guide to everything you can expect throughout October.

Monday, 6th October

This week’s horror titles include two brand-new steelbooks, one of a cult 1980s favourite (the original Fright Night), the other of a title held up as one of the best of the past decade (Hereditary). Arrow Video are bringing supernatural comic book thrills with Spawn and classic giallo splatter with Zombie Flesh Eaters – both in 4K! - Screenbound have vintage monster movie thrills with a Limited Edition numbered 4K of Gorgo, 101 Films have a boxset of the full Dollman series, and Cult Classics have some Euro body horror with the 4K restoration of Baby Blood.

If you’re not into horror, there’s still plenty for you to sink your teeth into. Also arriving in gorgeous steelbooks this week are old-school western Silverado and Pixar’s recent blockbuster Elio, and major boxsets this week include the complete collection of Red Dwarf, and Curzon’s Michael Haneke collection, featuring everything ever directed by Austria’s maestro of cinematic despair.

For those who hate horror but still want an intense adrenaline rush, Criterion are bringing William Friedkin’s Sorcerer to 4K this week – a must-have for fans of gritty 70s cinema. Other restored treasures are arriving courtesy of labels including Cult Classics, who are rereleasing Spaghetti Western The Hellbenders, Vintage World Cinema have stylish French thriller Diva, Second Run have director Kelly Reichardt’s heartbreaking Wendy and Lucy, and the BFI have the long-awaited UK physical release of the movie recently voted the greatest of all time, Jeanne Dielman.

Finally, for anime fans, MVM have a collector’s edition set of Fate Grand Carnival, and Anime LTD have the boxset of Bleach – Part 8.

Monday, 13th October

There’s 1990s horror for all the family this week; parents can dive into the psychological hellscape of Jacob’s Ladder in the new Cult Classics 4K restoration, and kids can be introduced to Casper, which returns in a 30th anniversary steelbook. Other cinematic nightmares from throughout the ages include Hammer’s Limited Collector’s Edition of The Curse of Frankenstein, Arrow Video’s 4K of zombie comedy classic The Return of the Living Dead, and the BFI’s restoration of influential French shocker Eyes Without a Face.

These are just the headline titles, as there are plenty more under-the-radar horror gems to uncover, including Radiance’s second boxset of Japanese Ghost Stories and a 4K restoration of Euro vampire oddity Daughters of Darkness, campy mayhem from Uncle Sam (the latest addition to 88 Films’ Slasher Classics range), and 101 Films give us creepy clown chaos with Helloween. If you want some intense thrill rides that aren’t *quite* horror, than Criterion’s 4K remaster of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, and the collector’s edition of the genre-hopping tribute to 1980s cult cinema Freaky Tales are worth a watch.

Also arriving this week are the long-awaited 4K remasters of Tron and Tron: Legacy, Second Sight’s 4K rerelease of Sean Baker’s The Florida Project, Curzon’s 4K of Oscar-winning indie animation Flow, and the steelbook of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.

Monday, 20th October

If you want a fun Halloween watch and hate horror, then the new 4K steelbooks of Clue and The Rocky Horror Picture Show are here to give you devilishly delightful thrills – and the ultimate Tim Curry movie night! If you do want to be terrified, then James McAvoy will take you on the holiday from hell with the new Speak No Evil steelbook, noughties horror-comedy Severance gets a newly restored collector’s edition, 88 Films bring back 70s slasher The Town That Dreaded Sundown, Vintage Classics have 40’s Brit horror with Dead Of Night, and Arrow have new titles including the blood-curdling horror anthologies Three and Three Extremes.

For steelbook collectors, this week’s eclectic range of new releases includes Jurassic World: Rebirth, Scarface, Reservoir Dogs, Aeon Flux, and all three seasons of anime Overlord. Finally, season 13 of Doctor Who gets a limited-edition collection, and Indicator have 4K restorations of cult 1970s titles Hitch-Hike and Plot of Fear.

Monday, 27th October

In the final few days before Halloween, the most varied selection of horror titles yet will be arriving at your doorstep! There are new Arrow releases including the Zavvi Exclusive steelbook of Trick’r’Treat and the Limited Edition 4K set of In the Mouth Of Madness, new steelbooks including the 2025 legacy sequel of I Know What You Did Last Summer, and the 7-film 4K Nightmare on Elm Street collection.

An eclectic range of movies will arrive in 4K this week, from Oscar-winning classics (The Sound of Music) to recent blockbuster gems (Superman) and everything in-between. Want a hyperviolent revenge thriller? Criterion have A History Of Violence in 4K. Want a true mindf**k of a sci-fi? They’re also delivering Ken Russell’s Altered States.

Then there are the controversial classics (South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut), Oscar-nominated weepies (Central Station) and the previously banned Video Nasty SS Experiment: Love Camp, which 88 Films have given a new restoration. Finally, Third Window have a trilogy of 90s Japanese noir with their limited edition set of Kaizo Hayashi's Maiku Hama Trilogy, and anime fans can look forward to a complete season steelbook of 86: Eighty-Six.
