Great!

Review of the product: Three disks: the 3D movie, 2D movie with some special features, and a whole separate special-features disk. The 3D in this movie is spectacular, from how it's directed (this is not just a 2D movie 3D-ified as an afterthought), to how it makes colored transparent balloons and the movie's rich textures look, to the senses of scale and height you get at so many points in the movie. This is well worthwhile. The 2D disk has an up to date Optimiser on it, taking you through some test patterns and giving you instructions on how to adjust your TV for the best experience, I like that, I haven't seen one of these in a while. The third disk has very little on it, it's surprising that it's content didn't just go on the 2D movie disk. But what it has, is good. Review of the content: Few movies can lock onto your attention and hold you frozen in place for the whole runtime except for when you laugh or cry, like Up does. This is simply one of the best movies ever made. It's beautiful. Disappointingly, the Short that was released with the movie, Partly Cloudy, is not included in 3D, nor are any other features. Though at least it is included! Disappointingly also, the hilarious short George and A.J. (about the two men from Shady Acres retirement home) is also not included on any of the three discs. You have to get Pixar's Short Films vol.2 to see it. It's my favorite tie in ever (competing with Jack Jack Attack). And most most disappointingly of all, Doug's Special Mission *is* included. I'm being glib, but it is awful. Fortunately although it's technically backstory, it doesn't need to be watched so you can ignore it. But all the other features are fine and though I would have really liked a director's commentary, none exists. There's good material on character design and interesting material about the real world locations the movie portrays.

Brilliant

I have ordered several items from Zavvi as they have been cheaper and their service has been outstanding. I recently bought a 3D TV and am starting to build up my collection of 3D Blu Rays. I cannot believe the quality of the picture compared to DVD's, and the DTS Master Audio is wonderful, especially on the Disney and Pixar releases. I'm really pleased so far.

First venture into the world of 3D

We treated ourselves to a 3D tv for Christmas but had no idea about which films were available in 3D. We had heard about UP when it hit the cinemas a couple of years back but we are not fans of the cinema experience (too much chair kicking and loud popcorn munching for our liking) so thought we would buy Up on Bluray 3D to test the new TV and Bluray player. The film has a pretty simple plot, an old man and his wife always dreamed of living next to a big waterfall far away from their home so after a 'violent' clash with some builders who were threatening to knock his house down and the prospect of facing a life alone in a retirement village the man decides to 'fly' his house to this dream location using helium balloons. A local boy scout gets carried along on this journey (by accident) and the film focuses on the unlikely friendship these two characters enter in to. The film has a few tear jerking moments but the best thing about it was definitely the 'theatre aspect' of the 3D. The scenes with the balloons, particularly the 'lift off' scene and the mid air 'chase scene' near the end are breathtaking in 3D, sure it's not the cheapest film to be buying but i would say it's worth the spend as it is a film with a bit more depth than a typical kids movie so would be a favorite for all the family!
