Gritty, darkly humorous tale of fatal attraction from writer/director Andrea Arnold ('Red Road'). 15-year-old Mia Williams (Katie Jarvis) lives with her single mother Joanne (Kierston Wareing) and younger sister Tyler (Rebecca Griffiths) in a run down bock of flats. Suspended from school, she fills her days searching for the next alcohol fix and hanging out in a derelict flat near her home. When her mother brings home new boyfriend Connor (Michael Fassbender) to meet the girls, Mia soon finds herself attracted to him. Unfortunately for all concerned, the feeling seems mutual...

Director Andrea Arnold has created a superb film. In her debut role Katie Jarvis deliveries a very credable performance. It's the story of a 15 year old Essex girl who is always in trouble. But will it all change the day her mother brings home her new boyfriend ? This is a gritty, emotional and shocking tale and a must see movie for anybody old enough !
For the last ten years directors have been making grim realistic films, which I love. Although Fish Tank falls under this category in ways it stands out. It is full of emotion and life that is missing from other similar films. The film is full of moments that are so beautiful and memorable. I don't like commenting on acting, but it is really good in Fish Tank. This film is bloody brilliant!!! My favorite film in years. I'm not sure if many people would be this wild about it, but it is certainly the best British film in recent years. I can't imagine anyone disliking it. Go watch it!!! The DVD is great too because it has Andrea Arnold's (the director) Oscar winning short.
