To this day, Pink Floyd remains one of the most visionary rock bands in history. The band was originally made up of Syd Barrett on vocals and guitar, Nick Mason on the drums, Roger Waters on bass guitar, and Richard Wright on keyboard. Having sold more than 250 million records worldwide, it’s fair to say that they are bona fide music legends.
Formed in London in 1965, the English rock band has gone on to become highly successful and influential in the music world. Their extended compositions, sonic experimentation, philosophical lyrics, progressive rock sound and elaborate live shows have brought them global recognition and a huge fan base.
Some of their most recognisable albums include The Dark Side Of The Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), The Wall (1979), Animals (1977), The Division Bell (1994), and The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn (1967) — among many others. The Dark Side Of The Moon and The Wall are in fact two of the best-selling albums of all time.
Credited with influencing genres such as progressive rock and ambient music, Pink Floyd were one of the first British psychedelia groups. Their music has featured in films such as Doctor Strange (2016), The Departed (2006), Due Date (2010), and The Italian Job (1969), making them synonymous with pop culture. Additionally, the band was inducted into the US Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1996 and the UK Music Hall Of Fame in 2005.
