very good anime movie

Arrietty: Deluxe Collector's Edition is an interesting story with amazing visuals. Although at first it seems like a story for children, it is actually suitable for all ages.

Arrietty: Deluxe Collector's Edition - Double Play (Blu-Ray and DVD)

It is a must buy. Dont get the standard edition as this one is far superior. You will love the card cover and the post cards are very nice too.

Beautiful images

To be honest, I bought Arrietty: Deluxe Collector's Edition - Double Play because I wanted something to show off my new TV. The image quality is absolutely fantastic and drags you into the story like watching a moving painting. It's a nice film, a worthy addition to the Studio Ghibli stable, and is outstanding on Blu Ray. One tip, I found it much more convincing with the Japanese soundtrack and subtitles.

Arrietty: Deluxe Collector's Edition - Double Play (Blu-Ray and DVD)

Arrietty is yet another brilliant film by those animation maestros at Studio Ghibli. Arrietty is a simple but engaging tale that rightfully takes its place on the family friendly 'Totoro' end of the Ghilbli spectrum. While the blu-ray offers a pin-sharp image, gorgeous colours and both Japanese and English audio, plus a few bonus features (mostly interviews but that's a lot more than the 'film in storyboard form and trailers' that you usually get) the dvd is so bad it looks like an internet Div-X rip! Get this edition for its quality packaging and treat your eyes and ears to an excellent blu-ray. Just don't watch the DVD on anything other that your laptop!

Arrietty - Great family movie

A really charming film from the makers of Ponyo. Inspired by The Borrowers but given the studio Ghibli magic. My 5 and 7 year olds love it and I am more than happy to sit and watch it again and again.

Quietly Magical

Based on The Borrowers, Arrietty is the latest Studio Ghibli masterpiece to be released in the UK. It doesn't stray too far from the subject material but manages to feel fresh, with it's vibrant colours and detail, whimsical soundtrack and outstanding vocal work. It's a wonderful film for all the family, truly a joy to watch and feels precious and delicate, much like the tiny Borrowers that inhabit the story. Don't miss out on this gem of a film!

Arrietty

Everyone knows the story of The Borrowers, very small people that steal.... I mean borrow items from houses in which they live under the floors and in the walls of. This is Studio Ghibli take on the classic tale, and they do it perfectly. The film is very colourful and well animated, you forget that it is animated and just enjoy it from start to finish. One thing I didn't like about this film was the voice acting of Sho, the young boy. It felt robotic, if that makes sense. It just didn't flow with this film. But it doesn't spoil the film overall. Even if you aren't into anime, this is still worth trying out. You never know, you might get converted.

Quality animation

Arrietty is another top drawer animated treat from the Japanese Studio Ghibli film studios ("Spirited Away", "Ponyo" etc.), and is based on the well known 1950's book "The Borrowers". Lush animation and adorable colours abound throughout, this makes for a visual treat for both children and adults. Highly recommended.

Picture perfect

Another classic to come from the studios of Studio Ghibli covering the classic story of The Borrowers. The packing of the collectors edition feels high quality, much better than a standard blu-ray case. The card insert holds both the dvd and blu-ray disc along with the art postcards. I cant comment on the dvd as only watched the blu-ray version, but the bluray picture quality is perfect. No blurring picture, or blocked lines. The film is full of colour and amazing art, just so well put together. Just a couple of bad points, i didn't like the voice acting of the young boy Sho, it felt forced and didn't flow into the film. Looking on imdb shows that there are different voice actors for the US and UK edition, maybe the voice in the US version would be better. The other thing was the extras, or the lack of them. They had interviews with the main cast of the UK voices, and a couple of trailers for Arrietty but that was it. What ever happened with trailers for other films. Or maybe I'm one of the few that like watching film trailers. It must be a combination of the art and the story as I was lost in the film and when it finished just felt relaxed. Highly recommend even if not a fan of anime, it doesn't feel like a cartoon, its art.
