I expected great things from Bridesmaids, having heard the hype from cinema goers, but I have to say I wasn't THAT impressed. Yes, it was funny in parts and I did have a couple of loud snorts, but I have seen much better. The film did pick up pace towards the end though, which is a shame as by that point I was getting bored!
Produced by Judd Apatow (The 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up), Bridesmaids was co-written by rising star and Saturday Night Live alumnus Kristen Wiig. Wiig also stars as Annie, a frustrated singleton whose best friend, Lillian, is about to get married. Annie's haphazard love life is thrown into even more disarray as the wedding approaches and she is asked to become a bridesmaid along with a mixed bag of Lillian's other friends. Bridesmaids is the standout comedy of 2011 and features layered adult comedy and drama throughout which will have you laughing and crying in equal measure. Wiig and her co-stars always command attention and this must-see film demands repeat viewing.
I missed Bridesmaids whilst it was on cinema release so was very much looking forward to a good laugh - and the hype in the press about it being a 'female version of The Hangover' had me primed with high expectations. It suffices to say, I was somewhat disappointed - It's a fine movie, and the acting is ok, but just not good enough to match the innovation and chemistry of 'The Hangover'. Still worth watching, just not a 4* plus film.
good fun film. great bargain from the site aswell and delivered quickly and sercure.
