Kevin Smith made his directional debut with this highly original cult comedy. Brian O'Halloran and Jeff Anderson star as Dante and Randal, two convenience store clerks from New Jersey who spend their days annoying customers, discussing their favourite movies and playing hockey on the store roof. This movie is a simple yet hilarious account of their day to day lives. -M.F.

Clerks is a comedy that will shock, delight and make you fall off your sofa with laughter all at once.. Its Kevin Smiths debut film based on a day in the life of Dante (Brian O’Halloran), an unmotivated college dropout who works the counter at the corner Quick Stop. “Work,” of course, is a somewhat subjective term given that he spends much of his day talking with his best friend Randal (Jeff Anderson), who works at the pathetic video store next door, and his girlfriend Veronica (Marilyn Ghigliotti), who is eager for him to make something more of his life. Also popping in every now and again Jay and Silent Bob (Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith). This film has everything from debates about the best Star Wars film ( Empire by the way) to ruining a wake of a girl they went to high school with,to playing hockey on the roof of the shop.Shot in black-and-white on a 16mm primarily at night at the Quick Stop convenience store where Smith was then employed. This comedy is one you will tell your mates about. There is lots of laungage, no nudity but one sexaul act (off screen, lucky enough). 5 star cult classic
