Horror-meister John Carpenter (Halloween, Escape From New York) teams Kurt Russell's outstanding performance with incredible visuals to build this chilling version of the classic The Thing.
In the winter of 1982, a twelve-man research team at a remote Antarctic research station discovers an alien buried in the snow for over 100,000 years. Soon unfrozen, the form-changing alien wreaks havoc, creates terror and becomes one of them.

Wow, what a tremendous transfer, immediately from the opening scenes of the The Thing from helicopter flying past the snow covered mountains I knew I was in for a real treat. This movie is 30 years old this year, and you can hardly tell by the video quality that's present here, granted there's the odd flicker of dust here and there, but only a few, and you'd have to be closely watching for them to see any. You can tell a lot of time was put into cleaning this movie up for Blu-ray.
The Thing is a superb movie. I've seen it many times but the format adds something to it. It's worth the upgrade and at a great price. Check out the prequel if you liked this.
The Thing is a classic Sci-Fi/Horror film. The special effects are obviously dated now but still brilliant. Some genuinely scary moments. This film is much better than the new prequel.
Wow, I saw the original version in the past and yesterday the bluray. That was really a positive experience. There seems also to be some added scenes. This film is a milestone in "aliens from the ice" film and marks the basis for all the following film with this topic. A young Kurt Russell and some other know faces in an exciting sci-fi Thriller. Will not be the last time I watched it!
