A wonderful game from Mercury Steam that gathers the best things of every genre. Action, exploration, puzzles, thriller, drama, and even beauty from the very evil. All of them in one game. The artist's work is simply delicious, and will surprise you in every chapter of the game. The combat system is just awesome and reminds the good old N64 brother. Just one more thing to say, if you have doubts on buying it. Forget about them, as soon as you watch some gameplays, the one and only thing you will do is this: eat your nails.
The pros start from astounding graphics, which fully utilize the PS3 GPU to a slightly renewed gameplay that focus on linear levels and pre-rendered cameras. The cons are that the camera and the gameplay aren't really up to the fast-paced action, and it could take a while to get used to it. Story-wise, the game is up to the Castlevania franchise: you'll be able to find all the old enemies as well as new surprising adversaries. If you like third-person action games, especially those with a gothic-fantasy atmosphere, the game could be a good choice for your collection. But the difficulty and the tricky movements could be an hindrance to most. The best thing is to try a demo and then decide whether to buy it or not at the price offered here, which more than good for this kind of game.
The atmosphere isn't as dark and gloomy as expected, but it's a great game. The bright and green landscapes alternate with dead forests, the dark, looming castle, and more... The game play is fluent and solid, combos always look new. Rather than getting boring levels with experience points, you get cool new animations. The basis of these combos is always the combat cross, your weapon. It looks a lot like the whip you get in other Castlevania games, and it's well thought out. The boss fights are great, every boss will throw something different at you, and they sometimes require as much thinking as the puzzles. The storyline was great, and kept me awake until the early hours of the morning. I can recommend this one to every fan of action-based games (similar to the God of War series, which is my only issue with is game), I'm sure you will enjoy!
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is a deep product from the point of view of the dynamics. The game offers a wide variety of combat and is much more technical than God of War, much longer, and incredibly rich in secondary activities with plenty of secrets to discover. A game to play and play again!
I frankly am quite impressed by Castlevania: Lord Of Shadow. My score for this game would be 9.5/10. God of War, Prince of Persia and Devil May Cry fans, THIS IS A MUST BUY. Only thing I recommend is to play it on the hardest mode possible for those of who are veteran to God of War type of games.
Great graphics and Great Landscapes. Fun game and a good story. Just Excellent product. If you like god of war, you will love Castle Vania Lord Of Shadow too. You battle incredible giants with a great combat system. Original Soundtrack is just beautiful and you will love the atmosphere of the game.
This is a surprisingly great game, despite all the "mediocre" game site reviews. The biggest feature of the game is by no doubt the graphics. It just simply looks amazing and put that together with great landscapes and it will simply leave you stunned. But as good as the game looks, that is not the only features. It has great combat to go along with the visuals. At first it may seem a simple button mash, but give it time and you'll pick up the subtleties needed for the harder difficulty settings. The story may seem straightforward, but it does a good job of taking you through many landscapes to a very satisfying finale. A surprisingly great game in the end.
This game is often called a bad castlevania, but a good action adventure. i havent really played any of the parts before so i can't compare it... but the game itself is definetly a very good action game! you have a lot of enemies and quite a few ways to get rid of them ;) especially the fact, that you can mount bigger enemys was a big + for me since i already loved that in dantes inferno. If you want a solid and good action game to spend some time you cant go wrong with this one.
If you like the God of War games then you will love Castlevania: Lords of Shadow! Great story, amazing effects and some cool boss fights! It's even got some very good voice acting from Patrick Stewart and Robert Carlyle! Yes, Begbie gives his voice to the knight who fights against all kinds of evil things. Patrick Stewart tells the story with his deep interesting voice. Play the game! I'm sure you will not be disappointed.
As a small studio Mercury Steam, one would expect a full of things but not that! A masterpiece of the end of 2010, controlled and enjoyable gameplay with borrowed references as: God of War, Devil May Cry, Shadow of the colossus, tomb raider, prince of persia ... but sometimes I find it a stand out of the game by giving us a variety of environments and in the chapters, the good will of Mercury Steam is to be commended. A long game, taking a staging at the top, an interesting story to follow with good twists on the end, Dante boss and all different in the way of killing them, even if the cross fighting is a bit rigid and not many combos can only applaud the effort of mercury steam with a difficult to master gameplay and nervous like a DMC game mechanics push and run a background! The purist fans of the Castlevania series (which is not my case) can be n'apreciront not forget that this game completely mind castlevanien to push us closer to the game beat'em all and I think it 'is a good thing. A unique fantasy world.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadows is somewhat of a reboot of the series, so it's easy for new players to get into the game and old fans to get reacquainted. By far the best 3D Castlevania game, you have your familiar whip with a lot of moves to execute, unlock, and also combine with light or dark magic for stronger effects. The story is quite compelling, with a well written script and great voice acting from actors such as Patrick Stewart and Robert Carlyle and like previous Castlevania games, this one also shines in the audio and graphic department. I highly recommend this game to all Castlevania fans.
Despite the name it bears, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is an action / adventure game that draws on both hands from triple-A titles like, such as God of War and Uncharted, offering the player action and a relentless pace of the game very strong. Thanks to the excellent graphics engine and the remarkable technical achievement, the title manages to immerse ourselves in his dark world, populated by monstrous creatures to defeat, but also allows us to enjoy breathtaking scenery, thanks a particularly successful art design. Despite the lack of real innovation and the presence of small imperfections on the side, we would like to say that MercurySteam has managed to pack an absolutely valid, that deserves to join the collection of any fan who respects and, more generally, lovers of well-developed games.
I consider the best game of 'years. Castlevania is a series that continued for twenty years. Many already know who made the history of video games. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is a rebot the series that is based on the first Nintendo video game "Castlevania NES 1986". In this release the creative genius, H. Kojima (Metal Gear series creator already solid and Zone of the Enders) and executive producer of Castlevania los. giving new life to this epic series. By creating a real masterpiece. The Castlevania series is a fantasy game Action Game, Hack / Slash. Full of "cinematics" and strong scenes. seem to see a movie. The work in graphics and details of each item in the game is amazing. even after completing the main campaign of the game, it's nice to replay it, completing challenges.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is a very nice game with great and HUGE bosses you also have a cute gothic ambiance and surrounding a lot of different enemies and you'll have to learn how to beat each species, and it sometimes is a REAL challenge! the scenario is decent, you only discover the truth at the end of the game the hardness of the game constantly increases, you'll die many times! don't worry, Castlevania is definitively not the kind of game you'll finish quickly, even more if you try to collec the artefacts, and magic points to become stronger you have to buy combos, new moves and use magic to improve Gabriel (the hero) is charismatic , you will love him and his story is kind of original and panting you will end the game in not less than 20 hours, even more if you end the game in the hardest way the musics and sounds are great, always linked to what is happening to Gabriel some enigmas and EPIC moments , you just have to think and be logic! if you liked Devil May Cry, Shadow of the Colossus, God of War, you will LOVE this game, sometimes make me think of Tomb Raider and Uncharted as well at some point. As a conclusion Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, is a great game and it was a huge suprise to find it soooo cheap on zavvi!
The beginning was not that big of a deal for me. I played the game for a couple of hours just to see what happens. A few days later after reaching chapter 4, I WAS LOST FOR WORDS...This game here is with out a doubt the best action adventure game I have ever played. Don`t be scared if you didn`t play the first Castlevania games, this one introduces a few characters here and there but will not confuse u. It has excellent graphics, no glitches encountered by be and the most important thing to add...It`s a long and excellent adventure for any player. In conclusion without spoiling the fun for the future buyers, I recommend buying the DLCs after finishing the game. Thank you Castlevania for making me feel a kid again !
It's exactly what the title describes. A fresh take on a great franchise. What the game does good is that it has a great production quality level that you'd come to expect with most castlevania games. But also that the game-play is quite deep (especially the combat system), and even the platforming aspects are good to show a change of pace in the gameplay. The music is great, the visuals are on-par and perhaps go beyond any AAA game. The story is quite decent as-well, something you don't necessarily aspect from a castlevania game. The bad aspects perhaps would be that the replay value isn't as great, and i have come across one or two bugs that did make me start over but nothing to serious. Overall the game is highly recommended, i bought this for around £12, great value for money!
