NHL14 - Best so far

Best NHL game to date, whether you are a casual gamer or a hardcore gamer, nhl has every box ticked. There are lots of in-game modes as well as the online feature. All you have to ask yourself is 'why have I not already purchased this game' 5/5

Splendid hockey action!

Get in to the game! Having bought every version of the NHL series since 1994 it was never any discussion about getting NHL 14 as well. The skating engine has been improved quite a bit when it comes to controlling both the speed and the movement of the player. Even though NHL 13 had a lot of improvement in regards to skating, it has been tweaked a bit, for the better in NHL 14. Adding "one touch deke" EA has also improved the flow of the game when wishing to deke at speed, especially in one-on-one situations. Controls (when using skill stick) is pretty much the same. AI is improved in several ways. Most noticeable is that your team mates are faster to react when the puck is lost or won. That brings another dimension in setting up qucik turnovers and creating two-on-one and Three-on-two plays. * The NHL 94 anniversary mode was a little disappointing. Now, if you did not play the game back then you will probably get a feel of past times. But for people my age, who used to enjoy the original 94 game, this "94 mode" is simple a bit too good... The graphics is a bit too nice, the skating engine is too smooth and the controls are a bit too quick in their responses to actually simulate past times. * The GM mode (my favourite) has been improved in regards of better menus. Otherwise it is still pretty much the same as last year. A detail that I like is that it is easier to sort a list of players when making changes in the lines. * In "Be a pro" mode you can now choose "Live the Life". Basically the same as "Be a pro" but you have to take more decisions (like what to tell the media, or signing a commercial contract). Your decision will affect your relations to your family, to the media, to the team mates and to the team staff (showed in graphs). The value of these relations will affect your mood, and thereby also your playing ability. * If you are a casual NHL player you won't really need to upgrade to NHL 14. But if you are a hardcore fan of the NHL (or hockey in general) this is a must have.
