Sidney Poitier at his best
I bought this DVD expecting it to be a film about a black detective in South America, and I was not disappointed, it fulfilled my expectations, as the title of the film, embedded digitally on to the plastic disc was, and will ever remain to be "In the Heat of the Night, which, unsurprisingley, is about a young black detective investigating a murder in the deep south where he is referred to by the co-star (Rod Steiger) as "boy" Steiger`s character is a racist and cannot get round the fact thar this "boy" earns more money than he does. It`s a classic film about prejudices. But, as this DVD was purchased as a present for my wife, I have not watched it yet..I`m only guessing that it`s about a black detective investigating a murder in the deep south where racial prjudices run high..I could be wrong ,but the film is not a new one and I have seen it before so I will be surprised if it isn`t about a black detective investigating a murder in the deep south of America
