Though it ran for a mere 17 episodes, the sci-fi spy drama THE PRISONER is one of television's biggest cult hits. The brainchild of star Patrick McGoohan, the series followed the adventures of No. 6 (McGoohan), a former secret agent who is being held captive in a highly secured village, the location of which remains a mystery throughout the series. This groundbreaking and innovative show reached an unfortunate end as TV bosses got cold feet following low ratings and increasingly strange story lines. But McGoohan himself took control and steered the show to an ending that continues to cause great debate among THE PRISONER's faithful fans. This release includes the entire series of the show, digitally restored.

The Prisoner
Saw the original TV series and not surprised to find, even after all the years, it still ranks, for me, as brilliant.

Superb.
Possibly the greatest british show ever made is contained in this box set. Its brilliant, bonkers, and truly inventive. Modern shows such as LOST owe alot to the genius that is the prisoner. A must watch.

I am Not a number, I am a great box set
There aren't many TV programs that live up to the mantra of being unique, but The Prisoner is the one that can wear the badge with pride. The Prisoner was the brain child of it star Patrick McGoohan and reflects on a number of themes that where shaping Britain in late 60's. Including government cover ups, spying and cold war paranoia. The plot of The Prisoner is hard to condense into a few lines of writing. The show follows a unnamed British agent who after resigning from his job finds himself help captive in the 'Village'. The Prisoner is a great show that mixes a number of genres and has influenced TV since it was first broadcast. I remember seeing the odd episode and being blown away by it. So I went out and brought this box set hoping that the rest of the episodes would be as good (17 in all) and I wasn't disappointed. This is a great box set which is well presented with a heap of extras and a very well written book. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a slice of true TV history and something that has never been topped.
