From the Academy Award®-winning° Coen brothers, The Big Lebowski is a hilariously quirky comedy about bowling, a severed toe, White Russians and a guy named...The Dude. Jeff "The Dude" Lebowski doesn't want any drama in his life...heck, he can't even be bothered with a job. But, he must embark on a quest with his bowling buddies after his rug is destroyed in a twisted case of mistaken identity. 4K UHD Review
Finally the 'The Big Lebowski' got a beautiful new transfer. It is sharp with a healthy amount of visible film grain, but it isn't thick or constantly there. Colours are vivid but not oversaturated, the image just looks super fresh and film like. Not really Demo material, but certainly the best the Dude has ever looked. Highly recommended!

Massive upgrade over my old DVD. Blu-ray is still very good, but worth the extra money for the 4K as it 'really ties the room together'. My favourite Coen's film. Subvert's the classic LA noir trope, by having the eponymous 'hero' play the Marlowe-esque detective character as a burnt-out hippy, that instead of being one step ahead is in fact always one step behind. With subtext ranging from the fear of castration, to the rise of female empowerment and questions the increasingly diminishing role of masculinity in the modern era. A classic film that has a cult following yet was still a mainstream success in 1998. Loved by critics and adored by fans, staring a never better Jeff Bridges as 'The Dude' is truly one for the ages.
