Still a classic

P. t. Anderson’s second film is impressively achieved. It will grip you with its visceral drama, sense of authenticity, and integrity at its core. Entertaining throughout, despite its often difficult content, while at times strangely hilarious. Sure, it’s lurid, bleak and inappropriate, but that’s the reality that was surly intended. It is masterful in its filmic detail, emotionally, as well as everything else. The characterisation’s are keenly observed down to a molecular edge, its photography emphasises every bit of grit and grime depicted. It’s worth many views, still engaging after all these years. I had it on VHS. Sadly however, it’s not Dolby Vision but the transfer is worthy. A definite upgrade in quality.
