Joss Whedon, the Oscar®* and Emmy®-nominated writer/director behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, now applies his trademark wit in this breathtaking epic. Captain Malcolm Reynolds, a hardened veteran (on the losing side) of a galactic civil war, now ekes out a living aboard his ship, Serenity. He leads a small, eclectic crew, but when Mal takes on two new passengers - a young doctor and his telepathic sister - he gets much more than he bargained for. The pair are fugitives from the coalition dominating the universe, and so Serenity finds itself caught between the unstoppable military force of the Alliance, the horrific, cannibalistic fury of the Reavers - and another danger lurking at the very heart of the spaceship...

The best sci-fi film in the 'Verse
It was a travesty when Joss Whedon's well-received cult sci-fi series 'Firefly' was cancelled after only one season. Thankfully, fans of 'Firefly' got this 2005 feature film 'Serenity' which addresses many plot points left unresolved by the series' cancellation. The film stars Nathan Fillion, Gina Torres, Alan Tudyk and Jewel Staite among others, as the renegade crew of the spaceship 'Serenity'. This 4K Ultra-HD is a significant upgrade to the Blu-Ray version, with the audio quality greatly improved and the addition of HDR is very effective. The blacks of space look fantastic if you own an OLED television. You don't need to have seen the original TV series to enjoy 'Serenity' but you do get a deeper appreciation of the film if you have watched 'Firefly'. It combines action, humour, great special effects and very quotable lines - "I am a leaf on the wind, watch how I sore..." This is a must-buy for any sci-fi fans.

An under-rated gem
I went into this not having seen any of the orginal series (Firefly), but thankfully it didn't seem to make much of a difference. Serenity's a great stand-alone film and probably one of the best sci-fi movies of the modern era... It's a shame it'll never get a sequel, but this one's still a lot of fun to go back to!

Nice follow up to firefly
If you have seen the TV series firefly then like me you must of been disappointed when it got cancelled after just one season, serenity continues that story in a movie that I found really enjoyable and gave it the end it deserved, the 4k picture was absolutely fine and the sound was great, even if you haven't seen the series you will still enjoy this movie as it is a great and very underrated film in my opinion, I've watched this several times and enjoyed it every time, some comedy moments and nice action with special effects that look great in 4k so I really recommend it

Over sharp
This 4K blu Ray is over sharp and therefore looks false there is also a wrong face inserted on to someone’s face for one clip very disappointing
