THE FINEST CULT FILM KNOWN TO HUMANITY!
Camden Town, the arse-end of the sixties. Two struggling, unemployed actors decide some respite is in order and so depart their miserable flat for a week in the Lake District - one that will involve rain, booze, minimal supplies, a randy bull and an even randier Uncle Monty.
Based on the real-life experiences of former actor turned writer/director Bruce Robinson, Withnail & I has become one of British cinema's most fondly remembered comedies. A cult film in the truest sense that has also become a classic.
Perfectly cast - with career-defining roles for Richard E. Grant, Paul McGann, Richard Griffiths and Ralph Brown - and crammed with irresistibly quotable dialogue, Withnail & I is a sheer delight, even on the umpteenth viewing."

As per other review...
...it's not going to look all shiny, like a new film, and the darker scenes seem little different from the blu ray, but brighter scenes look great, and there is more detail - such as when Marwood flips down his sunglasses as they leave London. Just looking at the start of the farewell scene it's apparent how much more colour there is to his clothes, and Withnail's umbrella is actually dark blue, rather than the black it has always appeared to be to me. Perhaps worth flagging up that unlike most 4k films, there's no blu ray included - and that the price is pretty steep. But if you love it, I'd say it's worth it.

We've come on holiday by mistake
Fantastic remaster of probably my favourite British film ever along with The Wicker Man. The film grain in dark shots is heavy but faithful to being in a cinema when first released with exteriors looking stunning with now strong bright highlights from HDR. The film is a thing of beauty and still touches the soul like it always has. I own the original Arrow collector's edition and this doesn't really bring anything new apart from this new transfer
