After earth

2 stars out of a maximum of 5

Always put off going to the cinema to see this as the trailers looked so so. The blu ray sale price was so cheap it would have been rude not to buy it. Seen it now - glad I never went to the pictures to see it - definitely so so. However, the picture and sound quality are excellent - the disc will serve as a good coaster

Had never seen this film before I bought it and was pleasantly surprised especially as other reviews I had read had not been kind. I found the story believable and it moved along swiftly. The quality of the picture is fantastic and sound is great. Definitely a keeper

Rather a disappointing film, one we probably won't bother to watch again despite having the disc. Acting nothing special.

The Smiths connect off screen but not on

After Earth is a sci-fi feast that starves you of entertainment. Father and son double-act, Will and Jaden, stretch the imagination as a father and son estranged from each other who must work together when their space craft is stranded on a hostile futuristic planet Earth. Cypher (Will Smith) is critically injured in the crash and it's up to his son Kitai (Jaden Smith) to make a hazardous journey to find the rest of their craft and a crucial rescue beacon. This failed to make it's mark on me as this famous double act have made better movies together and we've also seen the format, father and son bonding together to combat adversity, so many times before and better done. Even the addition of a human hating alien fails to add to the suspense because you know that good will win over evil. Hell, it's Will Smith and he never dies! Bought because I'm a Will Smith fan but leaves me cold and alone on a distant planet.

I still wonder why...

1 stars out of a maximum of 5

why does this director still become a chance? His last movies have been so terrible. The acting in this movie -if you can call itall the timeat- is so bad, and the story almost worse. The attempt of Will Smith to look stupid al is amazing. I feel ashamed to have spent some time and money in this.
