Saw him in Les Mis and thought I would give it a go, love the singing but some of the humour doesn't quite work for me
Alfie - The Bring Him Home Tour Double Play (Blu-ray + DVD)] I just watched this DVD over the weekend and really enjoyed all but a few thing's that fell a bit flat, some of the performers were great. However Melaine C's singing voice is nothing to get excited about and next time I watch his DVD I will skip the parts that let him down. I have read from other reviews that the producers decided to edit out Laura Wrights performance to cut down the running time,(seriously!)? They cut the wrong person out thats for sure. And yes at times Alfie sang some of his songs with his eyes open to connect with his audience, it's a pity he did the majority with eyes closed which I know its to " feel the music ", but its also the biggest way to disconnect. Finally, with his next Live DVD I hope he can stop hanging onto the mic stand and walk around a bit more, when he did on this DVD it lifted his performance 100%.
Alfie's voice is really remarkable. There is nothing to fault this performance expect I feel he is not at ease while performing. He tends to get nervous by holding on to the microphone and pushing it up and down. Other than that the song selection was really good, it shows off his powerful voice. I am sure he will be more mature in his handling comes the next concert!
Great DVD/Blu-Ray, delivered just in time for mother's day. Well packaged.
