The 4K discs are incredible. Video, audio, special features - five stars. This Collector's Edition is a total waste of money. I'm such a fan of these films - I preordered this instantly, preferring the look of this to the Steelbooks. Finally dispatched months after the expected delivery date, it arrived, and I was excited. Opened the box... To be pretty disappointed. Average cardboard box that is a gross shade of yellow, with three thin, flimsy plastic tubes inside, each with a small printed 'replica' piece of paper. The standard edition is housed inside the foam, and that's the real winner of this set. Don't waste your money. If this was an actual metal box (anyone remember the Inception metal case edition??), or the tubes were made well or had anything worthwhile inside them, OR there was even a book or a pamphlet, it would be great. Alas.

Unfortunately the word that comes to mind is “underwhelming” concerning this set. The idea of it was intriguing enough to order it for my wife who loves the films but the actual set is sparse and dare I say, cheap-looking. The plutonium case is card and therefore would need to remain in its plastic outer shell to try and keep it safe as well as in one piece. The extra “props” are on paper a nice touch but once you get the thin plastic tubes open that is all you are presented with - paper. Maybe if the set itself was a collection of the steel books and there was more extra like photos/ postcards / limited edition numbered info cards, it could feel like a gift set rather than a hastily put together box.

I absolutely adore this trilogy masterpiece and have owned it on VHS, DVD, Blu-ray and now 4k. The colors are glorious and the soundtrack is incredible. The plutonium case adds that extra element of fun too. Would highly recommend
