This beautifully made film has been very successfully transferred to Blu-Ray. The acting and location are first class and the film has very memorable music. Steven Spielberg has caught so vividly J G Ballards story of a young English boy called Jim Graham who struggles to survive in a Japanese internment camp. The disc also has a behind the scenes documentary which is a definite bonus.
A great film that is fully engaging and an emotional rollercoaster. Great cast.
Empire of the Sun is a view of war from a child's perspective and, is a fairly accurate depiction of the inhumane way that civilians were treated that were captured by the Japanese. If you are looking for an action movie, look elsewhere. However, it does contain one of the most spectacular aerial combat scenes ever filmed.
