A very good movie, but certainly a product of its time. Hard hitting in the 60's but tame by today's standards, its blatant disregard for racial equality and persistent racial slurs by tobacco chewing hillbilly's did raise a chuckle at times. Saying that, Poitier and Steiger were immense and the story will have you guessing until the end.

One of the Greats

A great pairing of Sidney Poitier and Rod Steiger. Poitier is a cop from the city who aids Steiger in a murder investigation. At first they don't get along because of racial tension, but after a while begin to admire and respect one another. A great catalogue release from MGM, completely restored for blu-ray. Stunning video quality.
