At the time of writing this, another 'review' is negative, and even says within it that they haven't seen the film etc.... I have this steelbook on pre order and was fortunate enough to see the film in the cinema, this design of steelbook looks OK judging by the images. The quality of the film, without giving spoilers, is OK. It is very different to the Xmen Films from before, but is still quite fun. Some interesting moments, and some nice nods to other characters who sadly will not be persued after Disney took over Fox. Is this film worth a watch? If you're a Marvel, Xmen or just a movie fan, it's well worth a watch to form your own opinion..... Don't be like the other guy who gives a 2* and even says "I never saw it but heard bad things". I left the cinema pleasantly surprised, and thought it was an interesting take on a relatively unused and uncommon roster.
Considering the years of turmoil this movie went through before it finally was released, New Mutants is much better than it gets any credit for (and arguably much better than it should have been with all the edits/reshoots/changes it experienced through development). As a big fan of the original comic run this movie was based on, I was very happy with the end product. It's not quite like any of the other X-Men movies, but given the source material, never should have been in the first place. The New Mutants Demon Bear saga was a teen horror comic, much different in feel than most other X titles of the time and the movie maintains this feel. While I do understand where some of the negative reviews come from, if you are looking for a different type of X-Men movie, and the teen horror/superhero comic book movie interests you then definitely check it out. In regards to this particular steelbook release, I absolutely love it. It looks so clean and is one of my favourite designed steelbooks in my collection.
I really enjoyed the movie and think that given the major. problems it turned out quite good, the steelbook. itself I. really like, stands out in my collection and is one I display rather than keep on shelf
Not the best X-Men entry but far from the worst, I enjoy this film and the steelbook is a welcome addition, nice artwork
Really nice steelbook it reminds me of the frighteners I didn't mind the film either. Loyal Zavvi customer
There were a lot of bad reviews for this movie when it came out but I absolutely loved it! It’s no “Avengers” but the mix of horror and X-Men is really fun and the characters are all super interesting. The steelbook is lovely quality as well :)
I love this steelbook and really enjoyed the film.
The steelbook itself is gorgeous with great imagery. The film is honestly enjoyable and a bit of a cult viewing (considering the problems pre-release it went through). The acting is decent, the story is quite good. The horror elements that were added help the story along. If anything it could have been longer and expanded more. Good effort and not the worst X-Men universe film out there. 7/10.
I bought this film more as a completionist than for the film itself, having hear and read some negative reviews for it. Upon arrival I was surprised how much I actually like the artwork as it hadn't really jumped out at me on the website, it very much stands out from the crowd in person. The film itself is also not nearly as bad as I was led to believe. It is definitely not a masterpiece but i could see it playing well with a teen audience. I also think this film suffered due to the ongoing pandemic, but i am basing my score on the quality of the product which was far better than expected rather than the content of the film which is a bit more subjective.
This film is good but I think younger people will enjoy it more than the oldies
