An anime classic
Ninja scroll is an anime that should always be mentioned in the same sentence as classics like Katsuhiro Otomo's "Akira", the story follows the journey of Jubei a master swordsman as he makes his way across Japan, encountering a strange woman in need of help, an old hermit, a clan of deadly ninja and an old enemy. The animation of NS is absolutely superb, and still puts anything made in the last 20 years to shame, the story itself is as above pretty standard but its handled in a way that's superb, combining both supernatural horror and action romance. That being said this is not a film for the squeamish or faint hearted with lots of blood, gore and adult themes. The actual transfer on Blu Ray is very decent, however if you have the anniversary dvd and a decent upscaking player, you will honestly notice very little difference. The sound is really the only outstanding part of the release with it being crisp and if listening in surround sound it's suitably immersive. Overall ninja scroll is an anime no fan should be without, and for this price the Blu Ray should already be in your basket
