Silent Hill: Revelation 3D

Having been a Silent Hill fan since the first game on PS1, and also having really enjoyed the first on screen adaptation of the franchise, I had fairly high hopes for Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. Unfortunately, it just doesn't deliver. It follows the plot of Silent Hill 3 the game fairly well but tries to cram in 15 hours of game play into a 90 minute movie. The set design and production are all top quality. The amusement park looks spot on, the hospital looks amazing and generally the vibe and spirit of Silent Hill is all there. The script and action however is not. It's just all very flat and bland without ever really grabbing you. The 3D in this movie is fairly good, it's not needed but definitely a good look. It does add some depth to some scenes with some fairly good out of the screen shots too. There are plenty of nods to the expanded Silent Hill universe that fans of the series will get straight away. Far from the worst movie I've ever seen, it's just not what I was hoping for. Repeat viewings do increase the enjoyment, but it's just not the same as the first film.

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is perfect. I recommend!
