Space: 1999: Complete Series 1

Space 1999 - The Complete First Series in excellent quality of video and audio (real 1080p 4:3 HD). A must have for vintage sci-fi fans. Best price and fast shipping. Highly recommended.

Taking a trip down memory space lane

This is awesome. Totally better than I remember! Long serious stares, wooden acting, strings on spaceships. Doesn't get any better than this.

Space 1999: series 1

I had looked for a box set for a few years, but found the DVD sets too expensive. As soon as I saw the Bluray set at an exceptionally low price, I had to buy it. I can say I wasn't disappointed - the HD versions are crisp and the soundtrack is superb in 5.1 surround. This is a must for any sci-fi fan!

Re-polished classic

Gerry Anderson's 1975 sci-fi series Space 1999 finally gets the hi-definition quality remastering it deserves. The 24 episodes of the superior first season have been taken and reassembled from the original camera negatives. Every care has been taken to exceed or at least reproduce the quality of the original 35mm film stock, whilst reducing grain without digital smearing or distortion. The overal effect of all the work and care has been to produce a near perfect visual product and package. If there is a slight critism it is that the extra's are all in standard definition and that there is a shortage of both commentaries and deleted scenes. It's particularly annoying in that one of the documentaries there is mention of a 2 hour version of the pilot and it would of been nice to see it even in normal definition. But perhaps I am expecting too much. The stories themselves though, being nearly forty years old have stood well to the increasing pace of story telling. So overal I'd recommend this box set to any fan of British sci-fi.
