My expectations were high after the Star Trek re-boot and with JJ Abrams once again at the helm....Overall: good and enjoyable, but not great. Big on action sequences, but at the expense of character development, as is so often the case. Trekkies will notice a few respectful nods to Star Trek 2: The Wrath Of Khan and the performances overall are good. However, you can't help feel that a chance was missed to make a movie that was at least as good as its forerunner.
This movie is a fun ride from start to finish. It doesn't have all the origin stuff like the first JJ Abrams Trek movie, so can get right into the action. It's Wrath of Khan re-imagined, with plenty of things twisted and flipped from the 1982 classic. Every crewmember is brought forward and given a role to service the story. I really enjoyed this thing, from the breathtaking opening mission the exploding volcanic planet to the Starfleet-smashing finale.
I'm a massive star trek fan and the film is very good some little bits were they mess about with the star trek story, but on a whole very good and well worth watching even if your not a star trek fan. As ever at zavvi the price is fantastic and would make a brilliant edition to any collection of films The action centres around an old foe Kan and they crew of the enterprise must stop him at all costs great action and Kirk and the crew play there parts really well can't wait for the next film . hope you all enjoy the film if you buy it i know i did. Thanks Zavvi for the great prices.
This is a really great sequel/revamp to be enjoyed by all and especially fans of the original star trek movies. Like the first JJ Abrams reboot, plenty of action and humour thrown in. Really great cast which gets the spirit of the original crew. Well worth the purchase to have to watch whenever you want.
Fantastic addition to the Star Trek franchise. Great price and quick delivery
not as good as the first film but not far off.
Great fun while you're actually watching it, just try not to think about it afterwards as its utter shallowness then becomes clear. The Blu-ray looks and sounds fantastic, but be aware that Paramount shafted the customer when it comes to extra features, with different retailers getting different versions with different extras, the commentary on itunes only, deleted scenes on XBox Live only. Make sure it's in a bargain bucket first.
Epic movie to be had on blu ray..
I'm not a trekkie. I have no past affiliation with the series so for me these two films Star Trek (2009) and this sequel have been unbiased fresh experiences. I really enjoyed them. They have good characters and zany but yet intelligent plots. I would definitely recommend them.
Another great Star Trek film you love every minute of it. Every actors is brilliant in their acting role again.
