The Deer Hunter is an astonishing, powerful and vivid epic about three men, steelworkers from Pennsylvania, whose lives are changed irrevocably in the tragic devastation of the Vietnam War.
When Michael, Steven and Nick are captured by the Vietcong, they are forced to play Russian Roulette by their brutal captors, who make bets on their survival. The experience of capture leaves them with terrible physical and spiritual wounds and when Michael returns to Saigon to fulfil an old vow to one of his friends, he makes an unexpected, horrific discovery.
Director Michael Cimino's The Deer Hunter won no less than 5 Oscars in 1978, for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Editing and Best Sound.

A brutal all time classic that simply demands viewing to be fully appreciated as the work of great subtitude that it is.
This is an awesome version of the cover for this movie (the best in my opinion). It is an excellent example of what steelbook art can accomplish. All steelbooks should be so thoughtful in their execution... The colors are most vivid as well. As an fyi, the only thing it doesn't have is any embossing or a debossed frame.
This is a really nice steelbook for one of the best movies ever made. I now own both the steelbook and a digibook edition of this move, but as far as outer apperance goes the steelbook is much beter

Loved how they used important elements from the movie, and placed them onto the steel book. A must own for any steel book collector.
For me, it's one of the best movie about war, with "Johnny got his gun". More than thirty years after, it hasn't lost his subversive power.
This movie is a cult classic & definitely has to be added to any decent collection. Powerhouse perfomence's, with Christopher Walken, Robert de Niro and Meryl Streep. A very powerful movie and you have definitely add this steelbook to your collection!
A stunning great steelbook matt finish. The movie its self needs no introduction I personally would pit Michael(de niro) against Rambo or the terminator another great steelbook from zavvi keep them coming
The steelbook itself is quite beautiful, that is of course if you like me happen to like the artwork previously used for its theatrical UK-Re-Release. The picture on the inside of the steelbook is different to the one depicted in the picture gallery ... so I guess there was some last minute artwork change. The bonus materials contained on this edition are not different to other releases of this title. So it basically comes down to a simple choice of packaging. Sadly there is no inlay whatsoever ... a film like this could use a quality booklet. Regarding picture/sound quality one has to keep in mind that this is a movie from the 70s ... but nevertheless this is a good transfer!
